Dishwasher shows several functions at once on keypad , but cant make any manual selections, press start, runs a short cycle 5 mins, beeps a long tone until i hit start again or shifts to other combo cycle then quits or beeps.

The continuity test features a beeper that sounds as long as a circuit is complete. The beeper allows you to perform quick continuity tests without having to watch the display. To test for continuity, set up the Meter as shown in Figure 4. Press E to turn the continuity beeper on or off. The continuity function detects intermittent opens and shorts lasting as little as 1ms. A brief short causes the Meter to emit a short beep.
Was there a Diode in the circuit?
A short beep sounds if the diode is good (< 0.85 V). A continuous beep sounds if the reading is ? 0.100 V. This reading would indicate a short circuit. The display shows "OL" if the diode is open.

Enter MIN MAX recording mode. The Meter is locked in the range displayed before you entered MIN MAX mode. (Select the desired measurement function and range before entering MIN MAX.) The Meter beeps each time a new minimum or maximum value is recorded
If you aren't sure whether Control Lock is on, press a cycle button on the keypad. If Control Lock is on, the light will blink three times.
Turning off Control Lock:
Press and hold the Lock Button for four seconds. The lock light will disappear.
Once off, you should be able to start your wash cycle.
Note: If Sleep Mode is on, turn that off first, then turn off Control Lock.
Like many other electronics, you may need to reset the dishwasher control panel by turning it off, waiting, then turning it back on.
Press the OFF button.
Disconnect the dishwasher from its power source by unplugging it or by turning the circuit breaker off at the electric panel.
Once disconnected, wait one minute, and turn the power back on.

Ok try this and see what happens.

Hold the start button again till it beeps
Then select the first cycle on the left which should be the rinse cycle
Then turn the dishwasher off
Then press and hold the start button and with this held in turn the dishwasher on.
Once the start light is flashing let go
Now press the start button once and close the door.

Now it will run a 12 minute test cycle. If it goes wrong it will drain the water out and beep. So open the door and count the number of flashes from the start light inbetween the pause and let me know.

With the dishwasher door closed and the unit in standby mode or with no cycle selected and all lights off, press - heated-dry, normal, heated-dry, normal buttons in that sequence. Then press cancel..... wait until 2 minute cycle is done. Open and close the door and make sure it is closed. Then run another cycle.
1.press cancel button
2.check if the door closes securely.
3.since there is water in d/w try running a short cycle.If it works, clean the inside thoroughly to ensure no clogs.

Did you attempt to unlock the keypad before trying to set the time? In case you didn't, these would be the proper steps:

I'm assuming the programs are all selected electronically...then your pc board is on its way out. In this case you would have to replace the board...most electronic boards have "service programs" which you can check functions, but I'm not familiar with Hotpoint....
