You will need to pay Magellan for the authorization code, they are the only one that can provide you with an EU code for your Magellan 760 RoadMate. Sometimes Auto Nav 2000 Plus, Inc can also assist. They have direct connection with Magellan to assist issues with Magellan products. Good Luck
You'll need to call customer service at 866-868-2259.
They should be able to tell you how to do an "emergency reboot". You also need to make sure you have the latest "firmware" before installing any updates.
I think your problem is that you are using XP with SP 3, you cannot use anything more than XP SP2, so find yourself a friend that have an older operating system and update it. I bet you will not have any problem
You can download an upgrade for this unit from the Magellan website for free. Maps can be upgraded but they cost about $80, and that doesn't seem worth it to me. See if that works for you.
You can go on Magellan's website and they have software downloads for the operating system. If you want new maps you have to pay about $80, also available on the website, but I don't think it's worth it for this unit.
Install a SD card that is not registered on Magellans website and register it and it will give you unlock codes to load maps to the sc card and wham it works, I did and it works,
i use to own a 700, i advise you to get the new magellan mastreo 4000 or higher,i did my research and the magellan700 roadmate is no longer being serviced.that is what the magellan website has had showed and someone on here also has said it and they start to have alot of problems.i own now a mastreo 4000 so far so good no problems.
I would avoid map updates from Magellan like the plague. They have a strange way of frying the units. Unless you want to be without your GPS and fighting with Magellan for months, leave the map software the way it is.
