I have a wireless router, my vista laptop is upstairs in my room, my wireless network connection is working. but the "local area connection" says that there is a network cable unplugged. but i have...

"local area connection" is the wired connection, which in your case is "unplugged" If you go to control panel and look in connections, you will see that you are connected with the wireless, if you right click on the wireless there is a checkbox to display the status on your toolbar along side of the "Local Area Connection" Hope that clears it up a little

Wired nor wireless connections for my ps3 wont work

if you setup your wireless in adhoc mode like useing the pc wirless it wont work because ps3 doesnt see adhoc wireless.

and for the ethernet connection is the pc setup right. you have to enable internet sharing on the accuall interface that has internet..
If local area connection 1 is connected to internet and local area connection 2 is plugged into ps3 then under local area connection 1 settings you have to set share this connection and in the drop down menu select local area connection 2. other than that you need to buy a router.

I Have a problem with my Belkin G wireless router. My Belkin Router Connection (local Area Connection) is saying limited and no connection and I don't know how to fix it

Does this happen with all the computers connected to the router? Check to see if the PC is connected to the router's LAN ports (usually numbered ports). Check if lights on the corresponding port are lit. If none of the PCs can go online, you may need to reset the router by holding the reset button for 30 seconds. This will bring the router to factory default settings. You need to reconfigure the router with proper settings from your ISP. I suggest you call Belkin's support so they can walk you through the configuration as DSL and cable have different type of setup.

Running windows xp.local area connection says network cable unplugged.Thats not the case, all cables connected. local area connection 2 says limited or no connectivity

On local area connection 2, right click and goto properties. Now scroll down to the 'internet protocol version 4' or 'tcp/ip' and click properties again.

Make sure that everything is set to automatic if it is not. If you have a router than the router may refuse a connection attempt from your PC if it is not setup to assign DHCP address. If this is the case then you will have to setup a address manually.

Finding a local area connection

Is this a wireless connection?
If yes than most of the times the problem is that the signal is weak, try to put your Router/AP to a better place and see if you can connect, netstumbler can give you a hand in this, not sure if it's working under vista or not, but under xp it's perfect. My experience ist that what you need to have at least is 15 For SNR for your Router from the place where you are trying to connect. If it goes under 10 it will drop you down.
Better SNR means stronger signal and that's all that matters with a simple wireless connection.

Local area connection

If it says that your local area connection is unplugged then you cant have a cable plugged into the ethernet socket on your pc into a router or there is a break in the cable.
