SOURCE: Goodman CK60-1C model central AC unit blwing hot air

Clicking sound is the contactor engaging to start the outside unit. Check for a burnt off wire at the contactor. For some reason you are not getting power to the outside unit. If you find a burnt off wire shut off all power to it then remake the connection at the point of the circuit break.

SOURCE: Wiring diagam for goodman heatpump

On your t-stat you have Y, W1, W2, R, O, G, B or C or X. Y is your cooling circuit and will be the same in the air handler and heat pump unit, use the yellow wire for this circuit. W1 and W2 are your back up elec. or gas heat. Depending on how many kws or heat strips you have and t-stat wires you will put the white wire to W1 in both the t-stat and air handler. W2 is for your second stage back up heat if air handler calls for it, this will be a tan or brown or black t-stat wire and goes to W2 on t-stat and air handler. R is half of your 24v control power from the transformer and is the red wire and goes to the t-stat, air handler, and heat pump. O is for the reversing valve in the heat pump that switches it from heating and cooling. You guessed it the orange wire connect to t-stat and heat pump. G is for the blower and is the green wire to the t-stat and air handler. B or C or X is known as the common which is the other half of control circuit from 24v transform it is the blue wire and goes to the t-stat, air handler, and heat pump.

SOURCE: Goodman SSX16 split system not working

Defective thermostat wire.
Defective contactor.
With the t-stat set for cool and turned down on a low temperature, check for 24 volts at the contactor low voltage hookup. If you have 24 volts, replace the contactor.
You can manually close the contactor to make sure the high voltage is going through it.

SOURCE: Blowing hot air, compressor not kicking on, just fan ? ?

are you speaking of the outside fan or inside? compressor should be a little warm but not boiling hot. the unit could be low on freon. if low it will run a while but the compressor will overheat and shut off leaving the fan running by itself ouside. if nothing outside is running check power. if you have power check the contacted outside to make sure it's pulled in. contacters are bad about going out on goodman untis. Also ants can get under contacts.

What could be wrong with my Goodman CPLE 42-1.

Have you checked the wire terminals at the compressor. They tend to get very brittle and burn up rather frequently. Have you checked for voltage at the compressor terminals once the relay closes? If you have 220V at the terminals its working properly, most likely your compressor is shorted. Pull the wires of the terminals and check their resistance/continuity. If they are OK check for a short between the housing and each terminal, there should be no circuit to ground at any terminal, if there its shorted, need a new one.

Airhandler- the themostat is on auto/I understand cool, heat.emerg heat,The (G) terminal-then why heat mode or,emer heat fan blows?Only when i switch to cool mode the handler still want start up blowing...

the fan fill come on with the sequencer (stack switch you call it) it will also come on with the fan relay. on some goodmans the fan relay is the black box on the circuit board. use a jumper to jump red to green, this should bring the fan on sounds like you could have a broken green wire, try using a different wire instead of green

if you have not clean the outside unit,,and it is dirty will not breathe right and cause the air to be warm try this,, mix clorox and water into a sprayer, cut unit off clean coils good.hope this work for you,,one thing to check before you clean the unit,,while it is running go out and look inside the unit if you see ice on pipes you are low in gas !

Goodman split unit that heats instead of cools

Hi, Could be a run capacitor on the fan motor. They usually swell up and or leak when they go bad. If not, the only real way to test them it with a specific capacitor tester. A new capacitor would be cheaper. Make sure that the outside unit is disconnected from power before opening it up, try to spin the fan blade by hand. If it doesn't spin freely it may need oiled if possible. See above solution. Your problem is the fan motor though so if this don't do it, It will have to be replaced. If this helps, Please rate my solution. Thanks, kstfas
