Sometimes you can just open and close the access doors and the printer will reset... but it might try to reprint a job it already did, but thinks it didn't finish...

I turned my printer off. When I turned it on the next day I had the green light and was good to go. I noticed that if I leave the printer on, I eventually get the orange light. This model of printer must have a bad cooling fan and overheats.

I keep cleaning the toner/printer waste tank cartridge and the printer continues to stop printing and the same error message displays saying "Replace/Install waste toner printer cartridge.

How are you cleaning the tank? Just dumping the contents into a trashcan may not work. The printer uses a light sensor to detect whether the tank is full. When the light does not shine through the clear window of the tank, the printer thinks that the tank is full. Sometimes cleaning the window with a cotton swab will make it work, but it can be difficult since the location of the window with respect to the opening of the tank is not a straight shot.

Another way to clean it would be dump the waste toner into ther trashcan. Tap the tank a few time to get as much of the toner out. Then add some soap and water into the tank and seal the tank opening with the green lid. Then shake the soapy water in the tank for a about a minute. Then dump the soapy toner/water out. Rinse again with just water and and allow it to dry. You don't have to get the tank completely clean, just enough to stop the waste tank error message.

Hope this helps.

Waste Toner Error Message For Samsung CLP 550

Dr. P,
Printer will display "Waste Toner Tank Full/Not Installed" error message if the waste tank is full of toner or not installed.
  • Open the waste tank door and check for the waste toner tank.
  • If the tank is full or not intalled, install a new tank.

If you have user guide, it will show you how to install the waste toner tank.

Sometimes you will also get this error message if the Waste Toner sensor is covered with toner powders.
  1. Remove your waste tank and look for the black plastic on the right side after removing the waste tank.
  2. You sould find small openings on each side in the black casing.
  3. Use Q-tips or thin cotton object to clean the inside the small opening.

I have a samsung clp500 color printer but it is not working .it show only waste tank is full/ not instaled what should i do.

The "waste tank" is located behind the front panel that has the SAMSUNG name on it. Press on the upper corners of this panel and it will open up to reveal a clear plastic tank on the right side.

This tank pulls out easily and has two holes for excess toner to flow into it.

Look at the side of the tank that has the holes. You should see a part of the tank that extends out from the tank but ends in a clear square. The waste tank sensor "looks" thru this clear plastic square to determine if the tank is full. I.e. if toner is in this area and you cannot clearly see thru both sides, the sensor will tell the printer that the tank is full and needs to be changed.

If the tank is not full, use a long cotton swab and clean out the inside of this area. Once you can see thru both sides, carefully replace the tank back into the printer and turn the printer back on.

If done properly, the error should go away and you should be able to continue printing. I have doen this and it works fine.

(Some posts have had people cut this part of the tank off and simply tape over the hole that is made with strong tape. This bypasses the sensor and would allow the printer to run again. I have not done this as I do not want the possibility of toner spilling in my office.)

Exception:

The sensor could be bad and causing the issue. If this is the case, it may be cheaper to purchase a new printer - CLP-620 ND is a duplex, networked color laser jet that is selling from frys.com for $315.

Replace waste toner tank Does it mean that the toner is already used

Open your user manual.

Or get one - go to google or samsung.

The life of the waste toner container unit is approximately 1,250 pages for full color 5% image printing or 5,000 pages for black printing. When the life span of the waste toner container has expired, Replace/Install Waste Toner Tank appears on the display of the control panel,
indicating the waste toner container needs to be replaced. Otherwise your printer stops printing.

To replace the waste toner container:

1 Turn the machine off, then wait a few minutes for the machine to cool.

2 Open the front cover.

3 Pull the waste toner container out of the machine using its handle.

--- above from manual, following is my paraphrasing due to lack of pictures ---
4. remove the container cap from the back side and cap the opening

5. take the new waste container out of its package

6. install the new waste toner container.

___________
You may wish to TRY EMPTYING the waste toner, but you will find toner is the messiest and possibly dangerous (inhallation, etc) stuff you've worked with. it is an extremely find powder and can cause an awful mess and is best disposed of by capping and replacing the container with a new one (shop around to find them).

DO NOT attempt to vacuum up toner - just my personal opinion - I suspect many vacuums may not have fine enough "bags" to capture this intentionally very fine dust. BUT Toner vacuums do exist and some "may" work.

Waster toner tank full/not install

The Waste Toner Cartridge must be VERY clean, especially around the "bump" directly below the left side hole. After I CAREFULLY emptied the old toner out, I used air compressor to clean every bit of toner out from inside. Then I wiped the whole area around the "bump" where the sensor "sees" if the tank is empty. Even a slight film over the area will not allow for reuse. If you do this, it works every time.

Waste toner tank

A few things can cause this.

The way the printer determines whether the waste tank is full is via 2 optical sensors, one on either side of the tank. You'll see a rounded bulge on one end of the tank - the sensors are on either side of that, when the tank is installed. Under normal operation, light passes through that and the printer reads it as meaning the tank is not full, until the tank fills far enough to fill that bulge, and thus block light and give a tank full reading.

If the tank gets too dirty, not enough light passes through and it gives false tank full readings. So the first thing to try is cleaning the tank with soap and water. Make sure that area is as clear as possible.

If that doesn't work, it has also been reported that the sensors themselves are unreliable. I am told Samsung will replace the sensor for free if it's been less than 3 years. If you call them, insist that it is the sensor that is the problem, or they will try to get you to replace the waste bin, at your expense, first: 1-800-726-7864.

Alternatively, you can remove the sensor from one side, and reattach it to the other side - putting the two sensors in contact so that they always read an empty waste tank. Do this at your own risk, however, as you will have to check the tank regularly and make sure it doesn't overflow. Doing this bypasses the sensor, so there is no longer any warning if your tank is overflowing.

Hope some of that helps you.

Printer not printing

On the machine there is a sensor that looks trough the waste tank even though you have wiped it clean the likely thing is that the sensor cannot see through the plastic waste tank.

I suggest vacuum the waste tank out until all the toner has gone then install it. If you cannot get rid of all the toner then wash the tank out and leave to dry then install it.

Hope this helps you

Remove and reinstall the print head.
Also, ensure that the protective tape has been removed. If reinstalling the print head
does not resolve the problem, replace it with a new one.

Eight flashes: Waste ink tank almost full
The printer has a built-in waste ink tank for the ink used during print head cleaning. Eight
flashes indicates that the waste ink tank is nearly full. Press the RESUME/CANCEL
button to cancel the error so you can continue printing. Before the waste ink tank
becomes completely full, contact a Canon service representative to have the waste ink
tank replaced. Canon recommends to call for service as soon as this error occurs. Once
the waste ink tank becomes completely full, printing will be no longer
possible.

Waste toner tank full/not install keep displaying

The sensor for the waste toner tank is dirty or defective. The toner sensor is on the right as you look at the panel just below the liquid crystal display. There is a bump in the clear plastic just below the circular right vent port, that's where the used toner pours in. When you clean out the toner cartridge there is some residue left that makes the sensor think it's still full. Take a piece of paper towel and a small screwdriver (I'm told a bent coat hanger will work, too) and clean the inside of the sensor window inside the used toner cartridge (w/ access through the toner port). It looks like a little raised groove on the right. Just wipe it until it's clear on the inside. The sensor can now see through the window and you should be okay. Otherwise, the sensor may need to be replaced by an authorized Samsung technician. Let me know how it works out!
