It is not supposed to pump water unless it is in the spin cycle. On most topload washers the motor turns one way for the agitate cycle and then the motor reverses during the spin/rinse cycle which in turn reverses the pump and causes it to pump the water out.

SOURCE: wf340 hotpoint washer

it will be to do with the pressure switch it may be faulty, but more often than not there is a blockage in the pressure chamber which is located at the bottom of the outer drum, check the chamber and the tube that goes up to the pressure switch to see if they are blocked if they are clear of obstruction then test the pressure switch,to do this unclip the pressure switch from the side of the machine but dont take the wires off once off pull the tube off that goes down to the pressure chamber once off blow in to the nossle on the pressure switch, you should hear it click and then when you release it should click again, if it doet click twice then that is your problem, hope that helps.

SOURCE: whirlpool super capacity Lsq9549lw0 has trouble spinning on its own.

If the washer does fine thru the agitation cycle (the washing), that means the motor is OK and the coupler is OK.  It would not agitate unless both are OK.  (and don't listen if anyone tells you the lid switch is bad -- machine would not fill & go thru wash cyle). The spin is another matter.  There is a separate tube for spinning the basket.  There is a drive  block at top of the tube (that sometimes fails)  and there is a separate cluch mechanism below, under the tub.  Those places is where you should look.

SOURCE: my washer wont spin

Your symptoms that indicates a broken motor coupler. If your washer will drain and fill but has not agitation action or spinning action that would indicate a broken motor coupler. The motor coupler links the drive motor to the transmission.

Kate - firstly the windings of the stator when measured is 32 Ohms, earlier models was a lot lower between B-Y-R.

The washer will pump - rest pump (Cycles) during the spin cycle, if however it overheats then water will not be fully pumped out. A possibilty is the hose into the drain or sink is too high, or blocked somewhere.

In most cases the washer will indicate an error code.

The LEDS 1st & 4th from the right im assumming 10010000 = Fault code 144 - either you have a loose connection under the display/push buttons panel or you have a faulty motor control module

It wont spin

Your washer has a lid switch.97a908d.jpg If the switch is broken the washer will not spin. The pump is mounted on the motor.c5ccc2f.jpg
In the wash cycle the pumps turns counterclockwise. In the spin cycle the pump turns clockwise, forcing the water out of the machine. So if that lidswitch is dead then she won't pump OR spin. This video shows how to get into your machine and the next one shows how to replace the lid switch

Wont spin

Hi,

Do you See any Error Code? If yes, let me know. Unless i could provide you with a Generic Guide that would help you :-

It doesn't spin or pump

If your washer doesn't spin or pump water out but the motor is running, your washer probably has a frozen pump pulley. If so, you need to replace the pump. To check the pulley, remove the pump from the washer and try to rotate the pulley manually. If it doesn't turn freely--if it's frozen or stiff--replace it.

It pumps, but the water returns

If the water that pumps out of the machine goes back into the machine after the spin cycle, your washer may be siphoning the water from a laundry tub that has a slow drain, back into the washer. The usual remedy for this is to improve the draining of the laundry tub. (Is something stuck in the drain?) Also, check for these problems: If the drain hose reaches more than about 4 inches into the laundry tub, cut off the excess.

If your drain hose is lower than the washer's cabinet, install an air gap/siphon break assembly.

Let me know, if needed further assistance.

Hope i helped you.

Thanks for using ' Fixya ' and have a nice day!!

Water pumping out at a trickle. stops in mid cycle

The timer seems to have gone out on you. Try to manually set it on spin and if that works then the timer is out.

Front load washer

  1. Turn off machine and unplug it.
  2. Open filter it and clean it.
  3. Check if in pump turbine is clogged or jammed with foreign object. On some pumps you can test if turbine it rotates free using screwdriver or a finger.
  4. Check if the drain outlet pipe is clogged.

Unless pump motor is dead I'm 99% sure that either filter, pump and/or drain pipe are clogged.
