Simply pull the indicator module straight up out of its plastic holder. No screws are attached. With a thin flat screwdriver pry open the bottom off the module. Insert 2 AAA batteries. Reassemble.

I JUST BOUGHT THIS BIKE BUT THE DISPLAY WAS DEAD, I TOOK 4 SCREWS OUT OF THE BACK, THEN ONCE OPEN, TOOK 4 MORE SCRES OUT WHICK SHOWED 2 FLAT BATTERIES LABELLED A 76, THESE ARE THOSE FLAT SILVER BATTERIES
