Have a Whirlpool Gold fridge. Model #GB2SHDXTQ00. This week the fridge stopped working but the bottom freezer works fine. Is this just a thermostatic control issue? What part might be causing the problem? Thanks, Craig

Check the back wall of the freezer for frost . If there is then it is either the defrost heater, timer or thermostat. If there is no frost check to see if the fan in the freezer is running.

The self defrost function is not working. Depending on the age and model you have a heater, bi-metal defrost thermostat.....and either an electronic control or defrost timer. One of these parts has failed. Need a model number to tell you more.
I don't know about Whirlpool refrigerator freezers, but my Amana has a temperature control in the freezer that regulates the overall cooling, and then the control in the refrigerator compartment controls how much of the total cooling is sent to the refrigerator section. My advice would be to lower the temperature setting of the freezer, and see if the temperature lowers in the refrigerator as well. Also, you can go to the Whirlpool website and they can help you further.
for no frost type;cleaning of freezer cub underneat is a must...cloggged drain outlet buildup thick frost on your freezer cub..

Hi, sorry I do not have any advice to offer. We have the same model. Three weeks ago the red light came on and freezer stopped working. Last week the fridge packed up. We may have been unlucky but I thought it might be worth mentioning incase they were related and your fridge gave up as well.
