D-Link Wireless Broadband Router Dl-614+ Suddenly

D-Link Wireless Broadband Router Dl-614+ Suddenly stopped allowing internet access on desktop and via wireless. Reseting and unplugging didn't re-establish connection. If router disconnected, internet access is re-connected on the desktop computer. How do I get the router to work again?

Password protect wireless access

You'll need to access the administrator web page for your router, and then set a security key (password) for wireless users.

For step-by-step instructions for setting up security on the D-Link DI-614 router, see:

Wireless card on packard bell laptop not working

I believe your problem is the network key, you changed it most likely. And you are now locked out of the network. The "key" in your computer must match the "key" in the access point (wireless router). WEP is a security protocol that runs on the wireless link. The 169 number tells me your wireless adapter can not create a link between it and the wireless router. So you are not connected. You'll need to get the "key" from the wireless router. Try entering 192.168.0.1 (that a guess on my part as to the number, generally this is the gateway address) as a web address on your desktop and look at the security settings in the wireless router.

Or else, restart the router and try to connect it again.. Anyone of this should work

Unable to access internet thru router

Make sure that your computer is able to go online through the modem.
If your computer is not able to go online through the modem then you will need to call ISP first.
If your computer is able to go online through the modem
then you need to connect the computer to the router and the modem to the router.
open the set up page of the router and change the settings of the router according to the ISP.

Changed from AT&T to a cable company for DSL. Trying to set up

You need to "fool" your cable box into thinking that the wireless router is the computer. This just means that the modem is locking into the first ip address it can get... it tends to block out all others. Here's how to remedy and allow everything to get access...

1 Shut off computers, routers, everything.
2. Turn on your wireless router FIRST... leave everything else off until you see it's completely booted.
3. Then with the cable connected to the modem/cable box and the router, turn on the cable box/modem and let it cycle up. This should allow the cable modem to "find" the wifi ip address as the main ip.
After that, turn on any other routers, and the computers...
This should allow you access to the net by any of your computers because the wifi router should give all the other comptuers and routers on the system inddividual ip addresses and all should be well...
Give it a try and let me know!

You need to do some reconfiguration on your router by using the setup cd or by manually configuring it using the user interface of the router.
