The screen went out on our rear projection Samsung TV. My husband had unplugged the TV and waited about 5 minutes. Plugged the TV back in, the screen worked again for about 5 minutes and went out again. Tried unplugging and waiting several more times but either we would receive a line through the screen or a blank screen; no picture.

No there is no sound. My husband may think there's not power going to the TV. We have the TV set up on a surge protector.

Ok, will not be able to repair myself. Can you tell me the estimated cost to have a repair service come out and repair?

When you say blank screen and no picture, does that mean you still have sound?

Ok. What is the status of the LED at the front? If its blinking, then count the number of blinks in between each pause and let me know.

  • Anonymous Oct 27, 2010

Ok. That error code is not listed in the service manual but based on your description of the problem, it sounds likeyou have a bad HOT. By running the tv despite of the fault , you have probably damaged a few other components that are causing the HV to drop. I have a list of possible sources of failure that can cause this problem, but as I have said before these are part of the HV circuit. It may not be such a good idea to do it yourself if you have not worked on HV electronics before.

By HOT I mean Horizontal Output Transistor. Sorry got used to the lingo!

  • Anonymous Oct 27, 2010

You can purchase it online. But first you should locate the component itself and get me number written on it EX: Q401 . If you can get me this then I can tell you where to buy it. Note that replacing this component requires soldering skills.

Expect a charge of about 100-150$

we have the same brand tv but the 65" model. had a 4 year warranty just in case the lamps went out. the lamp went out and we called conn's to come out and fix the tv. the repairman replaced the lamp, and then he said to unplug the tv from the wall or the strip it is plugged into and wait 5 minutes and then plug it back in. he left and said to call him back if that did not work. did what he said and it fixed the problem. try unplugging the tv for 5 minutes and plug it back in and see if that might take care of your problem.
