Connect it to a different computer. If it still is not detected, then there is a hardware problem. Exercise the warranty to get it repaired/replaced.

My seagate freeagent 1tb is blinking whit lights and my computer does not recognize it. Help me

***Please NOTE***
Touch the drive and put your ear to it, to test if the drive is spinning and working. Do this while it is powered on. Also, try disconnecting the USB cable, reboot the computer, re-connect USB cable to another USB port on computer. If you still have the same issue, try the below solutions.
  • Make sure the computer and external hard drive are powered on.
  • Disconnect the external drive's USB or the eSATA cable, which ever one you're using.
  • Disconnect the power supply plug from the external drive.
  • Power off the computer.
  • Disconnect the computer's power supply cord for 60 seconds.
  • Reconnect the computer.
  • Power on the computer.
  • Connect the power supply to the external drive.
  • Connect the drive's USB or the eSATA cable and check for detection.
If the still no detection and still blinking lights on the drive, check the power supply to the drive.
Check to see what the led light on the power supply is doing.
If it's blinking, power down the drive, unplug data cable and then reconnect the power supply to another electrical outlet. If it still blinks repeatedly, then you power supply is bad.
If the led is solid (lit and not blinking) follow the same steps from above to connect it to another outlet.
Next, plug the power supply to the external drive and power it up.
If the power supply starts to blink repeatedly, then your controller board inside the enclosure is bad.

Thank you for the opportunity to help you.

Seagate Freeagent not recognized, not in device manager either

OK 1. Go to Start>> Right click My Computer>> Manage>> Device Manager 2. Expand the USB Controller section 3. Right click and Uninstall all of the listed USB devices 4. Reboot the system

Do this with NOTHING plugged in at all. Plug back in AFTER reboot. Then it may/should all work again.

Seagate external hard drive problem

I have the same problem with a 500GB HD by the same maker. Fortunately mine started throwing "delayed write failed" errors regarding the MFT. I had enough time to save my data. Your event log should say something to point you in the right direction. Make sure your pc is up to date with the latest service pack too and start looking for a new External HD. Tiger Direct has great deals. I got a 1TB for about $120 Good Luck!
