Depending upon what you are printing and how you want it to look. Also cost is a factor. We sell new and used printers at our storefront. If you are printing items you do not want to smear if they get wet - Go laser. If you are printing photos on photo paper - Go ink. Some people fail to tell you when selling a color laser jet printer that when you are are printing just black, you are also using each of the colors a little. Toner is the lubricant that keeps the drums from squeaking on the blade as the drum inside the cartridge turns. The buildup of excess toner in the waste container may cause the cartridge to fail though you have only used a little in the cartridge. Laser and Led printing black only is the most efficient way to print. We don't usually recommend color laser printers unless that is all you are going to print are full color documents. Color can be expensive. Inkjet is more expensive to only print black with. While if printing color, it is less expensive than laser. If you need more information please ask!
Copy machine makers are notorius for forcing users to use a bit of the more expensive color mixed in with black. I can't print in black, it is called greyscale, therefore it has color in it. If you only print in greyscale, you'll notice your color cartridges going lower over time.
Hi, you cannot insert or interchange the cartridges in black to color slot. It will not accept and if you do it by force, you are damaging the printing mechanism of the printer
No. You need all the cartridges installed with functioning chips for your printer to work. The reason why you need all the colors when all you print is black is because a small amount of color prints when you print black. The manufacturers want to make up their R&D costs on the printers by selling lots of expensive ink.
you might not like it, but here it is, it is the truth
Epson ink jet printers require all of the ink cartridges to have ink in them in order to print any color, black and white, or grayscale images. Epson printers contain a permanent print head that needs to be charged with all colors to work. Even when users are printing black text only, a small amount of color ink is used to keep the print head charged for color printing and prevent air bubbles from entering the color print nozzles which can damage the print head. Therefore, once one of the cartridges are expended, the printer signals you to replace the cartridge in order for printing to continue.
First - read the manual as regards printing. I notice that you can print in Black and White but I cannot find anything to say that you only need the Black ink to do this (therefore I think that I am right in saying that you need the colour cartridges).
Question - Has it worked with only the black ink before now?
As a final solution - Contact Brother direct and check out their FAQ's and/or send them an email asking if you can run the printer with Black ink only installed (I suspect the answer will be no).
If the answer to the above questions comes back as "Yes you can use Black only" (they may tell you how to set this up in which case ignore my next comments), then please supply some more information as regards what happened immediately before it stopped printing. This will help to drill down to the problem.
Here's A Trick you don't really have to buy a new cartridge if it a bit low but here how you do the trick. On the place where the ink leaks out dip some water on it with a paper towel and replace it back on the printer and guess what there's ink!
