Can one use a webcam to capture still images without connection to the internet

Hi, if you have windows 7 on it go to start>device and printers and make sure you see the webcam without any warning icon (yellow or red) on it, if you don't see or see some warning icon you have two options
1-right click on it choose troubleshoot this device and connect to internet and follow the wizard
2-right click on computer icon >manage>device manager >
under imaging device make sure you have your web cam under imaging device icon right click choose update driver connect to the internet and follow the wizard
if you have icon in devices and printers and device manager without any warning icon or problem download some web cam tools from internet or messengers like Skype oovoo nimbuzz or.... and test it there. if you didn't see any icon of webcam with or without warning icon you have problem with your webcam device try USB one and send your laptop for repairing

check if your USB cable is properly plugged.
Also try connecting your webcam directly to your PC instead of through a USB hub

if your webcam's image is not sharp, check to see if it has a focus ring. A blurry image can sometimes simply mean the webcam is not in focus. Adjusting the focus through the ring can solve that problem.

Other picture quality problems with webcams can be addressed by changing the video capture properties for the webcam. Most programs that can use a webcam will have an option to access the properties of the video source, which will bring up the video capture properties window.

Hi,

If it Doesnt work try to change video capture properties for webcam.Most of the programs have an option to access the properties of the video source which will bring up the video capture properties window. (Msn, Yahoo Etc.)

Download revo and scan the programs to see if you have any redundant webcam software loaded on your computer creating conflicts - delete if you find any.

Go into device manager - expand imaging file - right click on your webcam and update driver using internet option.

Prior to using your webcam unplug it and plug it back in - it may have been used somewhere else and the software is unable to find it.
