Remove the drivers then shut down your computer wait 30 secs then turn it on.Windows will reinstall the drivers.They may have become corrupted.If they still won't work try updating the drivers! You can try updating the drivers first and if that doesn't work ,do the remove and restart your computer!
To remove or un- install the drivers right click on "My Computer" and select properties.then device manager.Finf the usb ports and uninstall them then restart your computer! For more info go to the USB maufacture's website

Usb mouse
here is what you can try,

1. try to connect the usb mouse in the other usb ports to check if it works
2. try another usb mouse.

if the usb mouse works in other ports and not in some of them...USB ports gone bad.
if it does not work anywhere, the mouse has gone bad. also to check the usb ports check if keybaord works or not. if yes..its just the mouse. it cost approximately $10. go and get a new one.

Keyboard, mouse, front USBs,DVD recorder not working
It sound like your USB Ports is the problem. Go to the Hardware manager delete the USB Ports and then shutdown and power back up.
The system then should reinstall the USB Ports and associated drivers. If not the USB Ports were probably fried by the power outage.

USB ports work at 1.1; s/b 2.0
Your computer is functioning correctly.
The USB ports on your laptop are USB1 ports its pard of the hardware.
Your PCMCIA USB 2 card runs at USB 2 speed and therefore when you connect a USB 2 device to this port you will not get this USB message.

Your USB ports may have become dissabled by accident
got to your system bios and see if your USB ports are enabled

If your USB ports are enabled check to see that they have an IRQ assigned to them.

if your USB ports are enabled and have an IRQ assigned to them check to see that

"Legacy USB support" is enabled.

reboot.

if the mouse still does not work , you may have dammaged USB ports , or simply a defective mouse.

Usb port ceases to work when any device connected to second port
As you stated the device works in one slot but not the other , tells you there is problem with that usb port , don't use those ports , best thing to do is purchase a PCI USB card if you need more USB ports .
