When i go online with call of duty 4 all keeps saying is downloading game setting....
When you first go on, stay on the lobby for about 20 seconds without finding a game. Then after 20 seconds, find a game and it shouldn't come up with downloading game settings.

try some other online games if they dont work call sony and ***** and get a new one it takes about 2 weeks so sit tight and good luck

If your connection is very slow, it may take a while to fully download any new maps or updates. I'd suggest leaving it on overnight on the "downloading data" screen and see if it finishes the download by the next morning.

when i go on to online and press find game it says DOWNLOADING GAME SETTINGS... and sometimes it goes off but other times it doesn't

i have the same problem it was working fine and i never had a problem with it, but now it just says downloading game settings. And my other games work online too, its just Call of Duty 4
when i try and find a game it comes up Down loading game settings and we. this has been happen now for 2 weeks. when the problem started it took approx 15- 20 minute to get a game however now we can not get on to a game at all. also as we are trying to get on a game the PS3 console is signing us of line. this problem is also getting more frequent. Some one please help!!!

Everything has been worked fine until we played Call of Duty 5 online and now we can't get connected to Call of Duty 4. When we click on "find a match" a big gray box pops up that says play list at the top and downloading settings in the middle. Did anyone find the fix yet?
I have the same exact problem. Its as if no one was playing online
