Question about Samsung HC-P4241W 42" Rear Projection HDTV-Ready Television

The colors are all messed up. Everything is yellowed with a blue double behind it. The screen is preaty dark on the sides and lighter in the middle?

Hi

Thanks for using FixYa.The issue is with the failed convergence (STK) ICs which needs to be replaced. It's not a difficult job if you want to do this yourself, you should require some basic knowledge about soldering-resoldering components. To start with you'll have to open the back of the unit and then replace the ICs (STK ICs) which are located behind the black heat sink and also check the resistors as if they are short the ICs might blow again after sometime. There are repair kits available which includes repair instructions with the parts, if you want to do it yourself, you can buy and repair it yourself. Plasma screens are extremely susceptible to getting broken from any impacts to the face of the screen. What you are describing sound very much like distorted or dead pixels. It may not be a fixable issue, you may have to replace the entire unit or live with the purple bar. The reason you don't notice it as much when the screen is dark is because purple is on the darker end of the spectrum, and will be most visible in contrast to lighter ad brighter colors.

I was given a model #43FDX01B V0J024597 Hitachi TV. It works, but the color is messed up. Main colors are yellow, blue and red. There are shadows in blue behind yellow words. Is this a big problem?

no its just a convergence problem try to adjust it manually in yourremote control. if still nothing happens replace the convergence ic.

Hi , it seems you are experimenting a light engine problem.Here's how your tv works: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZLLHnQ4y-wo Basically there's 3 LCD chips that create the colors and image by blending together.When these chips start to melt you will get those blue spots, pixilation even vertical lines.You will need to replace the light engine. Have a blessed one!

sounds like you need a replacement drum as it sounds like it is faulty, this is a replacable part and needs to ber replaced from time to time, this is a common symptom of this fault

try to adjust the green blue red lines .the green moves up and down but the red blue just moves side to side not up or down .replace the blue crt tube and when I went to adjust the i hear a pop .I got the repair manual and the tv did not have that maget x looking thing rings that slides on the tube that gose to the top on the blue tube ,not the thing thats wrap in copper.

how do i reset convergence on rear projection samsung hx-p4241w please? hi i had convergence issues on my tv and used the menu choice to fix the problem which did little to fix the issue. then i used the mute-1-8-3 method and 7 8 9 to select R G B, 4 to select moving part a line, full line or the whole matrix. which was nearly perfect. however the "matix" is not perfect and in little areas is just a touch wavey, in one corner very wavey. is there a way i can set one colour of the "matrix" back to factory setting and then move the blue and red to fit it so everything is symetrical and straight? many thanks
