When I connect the USB to my ZEN from my PC, all the ZEN does is power on. I cannot get my PC or any of my media players to find the ZEN, so I'm unable to add any music or videos to it. Can anyone help with this?
I have the following OS (if that helps):
Microsoft Windows XP Media Center Edition Version 2002 Service Pack 3

See the solution for PC not recognizing your player. You should downgrade to WMP10 by uninstalling WMP11 and WMP11 runtime. Uninstall portable device drivers from System menu and restart the computer. Replug the USB and the player should now be recognized.
I'm having the exact same problem. My zen is 'charging' but isn't detected anywhere on my pc and I'd leave it charging for days but nothing happens. I've tried different usb ports, reinstalling the software several times but nothing. I recently reinstalled Windows and with my new pc my Zen cannot work on it for some reason?! I put previous files from my old pc onto my Zen hoping that I could transfer them onto my new Windows pc but I fear I've lost the data on my Zen completely. Arggh, any suggestions guys? Please..x
If that doesn't fix it trythe USB cable Screen Doesn’t come on anymore http://www.anythingbutipod.com/forum/showthread.php?t=18859 If your Zen V is dead, wont respond to anything, try this, plug it in to the computer, hold the power switch in the on position, THEN trigger the reset button, worked like a charm for mine, I had thought it a lost cause."
I've had this happen before. My issue was a hardware interface. Did your computer shut down or give any sign of error?
Try checking the "device manager" and see if anything is up. You may want to go into your bios and make sure your "plug and play" options are still turned on. I'd try reinstalling the driver if you keep having problems.
You can't install any of the software either because it won't install on service pack 3....it says it's not compatible.
