Brand new dishwasher, installed last week. When it is done there is quite a lot of water standing in the bottom of the tub. It has only been run 2 times since installed and both times several inches of water were left standing. Is this something we could check or do I need to have the installer come back, which will probably take a week at least. Oh-KitchenAid #KUDC031VWH

First was a new garbage disposal also installed? There is a knockout on the garbage disposal where the drain hose connects to.
If that is not the problem make sure it has the correct high loop or also called air gap. If that is not right water can siphon back into the dishwasher. Both are common mistakes usually made by begginers. Here is a link for the correct High loop installation

Dishwasher not working.... when i close the dishwasher and turn it on i can not hear any water running and there is a pool of water at the bottom that will not drain

Hello, How long has your dishwasher been do this? Have you washed dish's in it? Also, these German made dishwasher run on less than 2 1/2 gallons of water. These German manufactured dishwasher machines run really quite. Because of the German water conservancies laws. They limit the amount of water dishwasher and washing machine can use. Also, there is no storage hot water system in there homes, it on demand hot water. You can't hear the motor running and about the only thing one can hear is maybe the water washing the dishes.

Now, the water at the bottom of the dishwasher, if the drain isn't connected up under is the sink drain and trap area or the garbage disposable in the sink. but some place lower on the drain pipe. You will not have a spiffing effect on the the bottom of the dishwasher, it the same with washing machines. One the discharge pump starts sucking air, it will not drain the dishwasher. The siffen effect works if the water is below the outlet for the drain. Example: Home owner have the new washing running and continue fill with water. Why, because the drain pipe end is below the the bottom of the washing machine tub. It fill up with water and siffen action continues emptying the tube will it still filling. One heck of a water bill.

I have a brand new whirlpool DU1055XTV5 dishwasher, installed two days ago. After the cycle completes there is about 1/2" clean standing water left in the bottom. It is not just down in the well area,...

Have installer come back to you, sounds like a pump problem, blockage, timer, ...is outlet hose kinked at all? It usually goes into the kitchen sink drain below.

Water standing in tub

If there is a lot of water sitting inside the applicance, it's possible that the high water float switch has been activated and is preventing the dishwasher from running. Open the door, remove the bottom rack, dip as much water out of the bottom as possible with a shallow ladle or even tupperware container. When that is accomplished, shut the door and try to run a drain cycle. If the unit won't start, you may have to remove more water. You don't have to have the rack in place to run the drain cycle.

Water remains at the bottom of the dishwasher

some dishwashers have water left after the final rinse. it is important to keep the motor seals wet between loads. My filter is always immersed. If we go away for two weeks, I put 2 litres of water into the tub and let it soak 24 hr so that I never start it with dry seals.

Dishwasher drains but leaves behind about 1/2" of standing water

Water standing in the bottom of the tub is normal.
A small amount of clean water around the outlet on the tub bottom at the back of the tub keeps the water seal lubricated.

Standing water in bottom of dishwasher...didn't drain.

hit the cancel drain cycle. Often times the dishwasher drain hose is not installed properly. It must be routed up as high as the dishwasher as soon as it comes out of the unit. May be also that there was a little regular soap or something that made it sudds up. vegetable oil poured into the dw tub will remove the sudds. Try to wash again after cleaning out the sudds and run it again. Thanks

Dishwasher has water left in it when it is done cleaning.

hit the cancel drain cycle. Often times the dishwasher drain hose is not installed properly. It must be routed up as high as the dishwasher as soon as it comes out of the unit. May be also that there was a little regular soap or something that made it sudds up. vegetable oil poured into the dw tub will remove the sudds. After running vegetable oil for about 5 minutes, pour 2 cups of vinegar in to the tub and run it on the hottest longest cycle with no dishes in it. This will clean the residue out and what ever "gunk" may be in the internal parts. Use Only powder detergent. No gel and No tabs. These 2 cause a build-up over a period of time of use and reduce the performance of your machine.

Maytag Dishwasher Model DWU9200BAB

Do you have an air gap between the disposal and the dishwasher? If not required raise the hose and as high as you can. It must be above the water level in the sink. Try attaching it to the underside of the counter. At some point the hose should be above 32 inches. It the problem is with the dishwasher itself. Don't fix, replace. They are not really designed to last over 10 years. The new ones , especially in the last year or two are a BIG improvement over any older one. So quiet you can't tell they are even running, they clean so much better and are much more energy efficient. Stainless steel interiors are just a fad. The plastic tubs are actually less likely to leak and are by there nature more quiet.
