Question about Canon PIXMA MP530 All-In-One InkJet Printer

1 Answer

With my canon mp530 the paper will not feed into the machine to print. What could be the problem?

Thank you for your response. You are absolutely right in that it sounds like it is trying to grab the piece of paper, but does not succeed. I did as you instructed by turning the machine off and unplugging it for two minutes, but the problem remains the same. Any more suggestions?

    Thanks.

    Tim,
Yes, I tried the single sheet several times. I pushed it in and tried to get it to accept it, but it won't. It sounds like it is trying, although the sound is different than it used to be before this happened. Wish I could tell you how it is different, but I can't!
Thanks again. What else can I try?

    Tim,
From the sound of the machine, and from what you are saying, I think I must buy a new one. I can't believe it is that cheap! I do use it quite a bit for printing photos. Do you know if there is another model that, although it would cost more, would print better photos? Thank you so much for your advice!

    Tim,
Thank you so much for your help. I will probably go ahead and buy the photo printer you recommended.
    All the best,
    Dennis

Does it make the sounds as if it is trying to grab a sheet of paper and just will not? Try unplugging the printer from the power source for at least 2 minutes, then replugging it in. Try just a single sheet of paper in the paper tray. See if it will at least grab that.

Let me know what you find, just reply here!

Thanks
Tim

Did you try it with a single sheet of paper? If you push the paper in as it's attempting to grab it, does it start to grab it? It sounds like the feeder is having problems, but see if you can assist a single sheet in there to see if it will at least grab it at all...

    Thanks

I know exactly what you mean about the sound, the feeder has come off track... this is very common actually. There is no real easy fix for this problem unfortunately, if it won't even grab a single sheet then it has major hardware issues. To get it fixed is going to cost you more than just replacing the printer unfortunately.

You can get a replacement that is actually nicer than the model you have for just $74 with free shipping as well... and it is wireless as well (works with a wire too of course, but has wireless built in which is extremely nice)...

You can see the one I am talking about here:

I see the problem you are having all the time, it's quite unfortunate, it just happens at some point with these printers.

I am so sorry about that, let me know if you have any questions about it...

Absolutely, if you do a lot of photos you will be much better off with this model here... Still a great price as well $94 and change, free shipping, and amazing with photos.

Everytime I go to print a document, printers, alarm comes on and it says error 6000. Im not sure what to do. Do I need a technician?

Yes you will need a technician. basically it sounds as if the timing **** disk has fallen off the end of the platen so the machine is not able to feed the paper or print.

Canon MP530, would only print half of a page then quit and give me error message 5700. I would pull the paper out and shut down and would start and print only half of a page and stop. I would take out...

This error is referring to the ASF assy (Assembly frame which means the paper feed section)
This paper sheet feeder assy is a extremley complicated piece and is therefore not really repairable. You will need to take the machine to a canon repairer for a new assy sheet feeder to be fitted. It takes a trained engineer about 2-1/2 hours to fit one as the whole machine has to come apart and the new feeder has to be aligned while fitting. Its a job i always hate having to do. You dont have any other options i am afraid. Srri to bring you such bad news.

Paper jammed in canon MP530

finally got the paper out by unplugging the whole thing, removing it from the shelf, and taking out the spare paper tray on the bottom of the unit... sure wish it had been designed with a "release" button!

Paper feed jamms the paper all the time, will not feed without jamming from bottom tray, top tray jams every 2 to 3 prints or print with the top corner bent

Unless both feeder rollers went bad at the same time, which is unlikely, it must have something to do with the paper. It might be slightly damp, or not the correct kind. Try using high quality matte white paper from a brand new pack and see whether it still jams.

Canon MP530 ADF

Normal 0 I suggest you get a sheet of Card Stock (Heavy paper) and place it in the feed way. Then press the print button applying a slight amount of pressure on the Card Stock so it will feed through the printer. The reason for this, is in some cases I have been able to clear the paper track of debris that was deposited there over time.
Worth a try, as I have fixed a number of printers this way, saving costly repairs.
Hope this helps. Bud
