Just checking..we have a brother fax Intellfax 4750 and we can send out faxes however no faxes are coming in. It says receiving on the display but ringing in busy from the person sending the fax...any suggestions as to what may be the problem.

Can you receive a fax? Pick up the handset to check and see if you have a good dial tone on your end.

I would suggest you to try Popfax.com internet fax service. I use it for several years, and never got problems. It is cheaper than other providers. Try it for free on FreePopfax.com.

there's a door on the rear that needs to be closed to send it through the upper part.

It appears that you have a bad SCANNER BLOCK

do a quick check on 2 things.
- Copy a document(put a printed page on document feeder and press Copy button) , has the Copy come ok? if copy is also blank that means toner/ink problem, needs to be replaced.

- check with your Fax receive Print settings. is any setting of econo mode/ contrast/brightness Off the track? If found any of such issue then Reset it or put it on average (middle).

Printing irregularites on sent faxes are due to spots or a dirty scanner.
Spaces on received faxes are due to a dirty drum, corona wire, or a failing or improperly installed toner cartridge. A new cartridge should be gently shaken back and forth sideways prior to installation.

unplug machine, press and hold down the "stop/exit" key while pluggung back in. continue to hold the button down for 5 secs, then release. if machine returns to the regular date/time display, you should be alright. if not, then you'll have to call brother or an authorized service center. this is usually caused by a fax stuck in memory, which this procedure should clear.

Make sure the phone cord is plugged into the LINE port of the fax machine.

Check the phone line with a regular phone.

1- check the small stip of glass and see if it has toner,
check the maintenance section of the manual (it's free, just register)

make sure phone line is pluged into line on fax,make sure fax is set auto.there should be a button on fax panel that say's receive mode.
