I purchased the Belkin USB play wireless adaptor and it connects just really slowly our wireless internet is capable of about 500kbs but i am only able to go to 200kb. Only reason i bought this is because the old one i had was no compatible with windows 7. This is installed correctly however as i said just wont connect fast even though there is full connection and connected at 216mbs (i know it wont perform at this speed) but can anyone think of an option or setting i need to change to fix this??? PS the way i test my speed is by downloading a file also doing a speed test the main thing is the ping is 550ms and in the room next to me (sisters computer) she receives a ping of 50.

There are four flavours of WiFi: a, b, g, & n. A is oldest and slowest, N is the newest and fastest.
My recommendation to you is to purchase the cheaper variation of N called N150 or 150N. This means that it's maximum connection speed to a WiFi network is 150 mega-bits per second. This is half the speed of the fastest N variation.
However, what the salesmen won't tell you at the store is that 150 megabits per second is still at least ten times faster than a typical 'very fast' internet connection. So why pay double to have a 300 megabit connection to your router, when you have only 15 megabits possible from the internet?
Where I live the N150 usb adaptors & routers are much cheaper than N300; this is why I recommend them. I recently bought a Belkin N150.
Hi You need to install the drivers for using the wireless-g usb adaptor. And you can download the drivers from the following link, but make sure first you check the version of the usb adaptor. http://en-us-support.belkin.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/297
And once its done, just connect the usb and get connected to the internet:)
The wireless adapter is used to connect wireless to the internet, You can use it to make your desktop wireless and laptop.
You can connect to the internet as long as you have a wireless router in your place that will supply the wireless signal.
Try connecting the sprint card to your router's internet port. You will need a usb-to-ethernet adaptor, along with a networking patch cable, to connect the sprint card to the router.
Then either connect to the router with your two computers using cables, or wireless. If using wireless, you will need wireless adaptors for each of your computers, preferrably Belkin brand to ensure compatibity.
For your connection to reach 300 MBps, not only must your Belkin WiFi USB adapter be an N, so must your Access Point/Router also be N capable. Additionally, your Internet/DSL connection would also be a limiting factor on your Internet Connection speed.
Hope this be of some help/idea. Post back should you need additional information.
Hi zlyman,
The Belkin N1 Wireless USB 2.0 Network Adapter might be choosy with what motherboard it is attached to.
Pls refer to this similar problem > http://www.fixya.com/support/t201253-not_identify_belkin_n1_wireless_usb
Hope this be of some help/idea. Post back how things stand or should you need further information.
Good luck and kind regards.
what the adviser meant was your pc cannot provide enough power to the usb port to power the unit, assuming you have tried other ports and it still wont work; you will need to either purchase a pci usb 2.0 card adapter or purchase a mains powered usb hub and connect to this instead.
Correct installation of this cheap little piece of kit from Belkin might be the worst thing you ever do! If you find that Windows XP is freezing 10 times per day, just remove the wirelss adaptor and you will find that the problem disappears... The conclusion will be as obvious to you as to many other users.
