I have a briggs 24 hp twin v intek engine, started smoking last year with only 50 hours, now with a little over 60, it smokes like a steam train and uses 1 qt oil/30 min. Last week it fouled a plug, I talked to a repair guy and he said head gaskets, so i did that, helped, but still smokes when throttle is moved or really bad when mower is engaged. Help!

Double check that the head bolts are properly torqued. There is a crankcase breather if stuck open could be drawing oil into the intake, and there is a valve stem seal on each intake valve that could be leaking. All this is assuming that the oil level is not over full. They will smoke like a banshee if they have to much oil in them.

Smoking and loosing power

Blue smoke means engine worn or too much oil in sump.
Black smoke is caused by too much fuel being sucked into carburettor.
This can be caused by a dirty air filter, choke being left on after engine is started or fault in choke system if automatic choke fitted.

My 24 hp Briggs v twin smokes and uses oil bad. Smoke comes out of the left side when running. Can I use head gasket sealer to get me through the season?

There is no sealer that will resolve a head gasket issue, if that is what you have going on. and, if the head gasket failed remember it is a victim and not the cause, something else in happening.
I suspect that you have a compression related failure, based on the oil consumption and the smoke is probably blow by. This issue requires surgery to diagnose and fix.

Briggs and Stratton 22hp v twin OHV smoking badly

First thing to do is pull your dipstick and check for broken or missing O-ring also as you pull it, look to make certain that it was seated properly and all the way locked. If either condition exists, you will be leaking into the crankcase which will cause your symptoms

White Smoke comming out of Briggs and Stratton 21 HP V2 engine.

The white smoke may have been caused by having water in the fuel, or fuel tank [due to condensation or exposure to rain and snow]. It may have been that the mower got tipped for cleaning purposes, blade inspection, etc. and oil from the low lying oil pan got into the piston.

Either way, I recommend installing a brand new spark plug and new gasoline [you can purchase a little gas siphoning hose for a dollar or so at any auto parts store] If you have gasoline left over in a can from last year it is safe to use it in your car as it mixes with lots of new gas, but not in your small mower tank as it is basically outdated fuel.
