Turn on and error 6500 displays? How to fix?

The Service Manual for the MP500, which is very close to the MP450, indicates that the error code of 6500 is a PCI buss error and this is a Service Error Code. Typically this is an internal error of one of the ASCI chips on the logic board and can only be repaired by replacing the logic board at the Canon Service Center.

If you want to take the time to try and repair it, you can take the unit apart and search for a loose connection, or unplug and replug all connections. Other than that, you can sell it for parts.

Good luck

My new canon pixma MP450 has an error code of 6500 on the display panel. Can you please tell me how to fix it

this is printer logic motherboard problem

The 6500 error code is a logic board error code. The PCI Bus error is detected by the ASCI. Sounds like it needs new logic board. but i suggest you to first of all you can try to reset your printer -

1. Turn the printer off with the Power button (if available).
2. Disconnect the data cable from the printer.
3. Unplug the printer's power cord for approximately 10 minutes, and then plug it back in.
4. Turn the printer back on. If this works you're done, if not try the next step.

1. After confirming that the printer is powered on, open the paper output tray.
2. Open the top cover and wait until the print head moves to the center.
3. Open the inner cover and check that ink tanks are properly seated.
4. Properly seated
5. Press down on each ink tank until a click is heard.
6. Close the inner cover and top cover

if reset method not works for you then you go for the new logic board replacement .

Hope this helps. Please rate my response.
Thanks.
Have a good day.

I can't even fax from the machine with error code 6500 showing. Thus, it isn't just a printing problem.

Error code 6500 on the MP830 is for a PCI bus error. The Canon service manual suggests the remedy is to replace the Logic Board. That wouldn't be cost effective if you could even get the spare part.

Sorry I can't be of more help.

Canon PIXMA MP450 "Servic Error 5100"

Try this... it worked on my MP450... Turn the printer on and open the lid, it shows the cartridges. Now let the cartridges settle to the left. You can notice that the cartridges run on a metal belt. It might be dirty, mine showed a black stripe on it. Take a cloth, a cleenex will be fine and clean it up. Move the cartridges to the right (force them with your hand) and clean the part of the belt left behind them. Now turn it off, close it up and turn it back on. It should work

We had the same problem so we opened the screws up at the back, gave it a shake and suddenly a asweet wrapper appeared. We then put the screws back in and it started printing again! Good Luck!
