Dear sir, This is the most likely cause of this problem: Be sure that the top tabs and the bottom lock clip are not damaged. (red arrows on photos of my own unit) These hold the filter in place. If damaged you may try several layers of super glue, or oder replacement part from shark.com parts for this model. good luck.

The two long magnets (maybe about 2" and tapered across one long side) go in the housing in front of the brush. One fits on the right, the other on the left. The tapered ends point up. When you put the top cover back on, it will enclose the magnets completely. Took me 45 minutes to figure that out after realizing one magnet was still in place. Sheesh. Lol
