To solve this error :

This error is caused by an issue with the Wii console being unable to connect to your wired router.

To solve this error :

Try changing the channel of your wireless router to either channel 1 or channel 11 which can increase download speeds. Be sure to test both channels to see which works better or faster.

Log on to your router by using the default IP address and check if MAC filtering is on or enabled, which is usually under Security. If MAC filtering is on or enabled, add the Wii console's MAC address as an approved MAC address.

Error 209600 downloading internet channel on wii

Error 209600 occurs when your Wii times out while trying to connect to the Nintendo Wi-Fi servers. This could mean the Nintendo servers are experiencing high traffic, and that you should try again later, or that your bandwidth is too low. The Nintendo Wii does not work properly with anything lower than broadband connections, such as high speed cable or DSL.

Error code 209600

Hello Brian,
How are you? I am unsure of your question so I'll give it my best shot. Go to Nintendo's website and read their description of that error, and how to fix it.
Here is the link so you don't have to search it: http://www.nintendo.com/consumer/wfc/en_na/ds/results.jsp?error_code=209600&system=Wii&locale=lang
When you arrive on this page, follow the corresponding steps (wether you're using a wireless router or the nintendo wi-fi usb connector). It should solve your problem.
Hope this helps!

What is code 209600?

Hi,

Welcome to Fixya. Wii Error Code 209600. If you are attempting to connect your Wii console online using a wireless router and you receive this error :

Ensure you are using a broadband or high speed internet connection such as cable, DSL, or fiber optics. Slower connections, such as dial up, may cause issues with the Wii or may not work properly.

Ensure there is no interfering devices by shutting off microwaves, cordless phones, wireless keyboards, and wireless mice.

Diable your firewall settings, as it may be causing a connection problem.
Try changing the channel of your wireless router to either channel 1 or channel 11 which can increase download speeds. Be sure to test both channels to see which works better or faster.

If you are using a Netgear wireless router, disable the SPI firewall setting which is usually found under the WAN Settings of your wireless router.

If you are attempting to connect your Wii console online using the Nintendo Wireless (Wi-Fi) USB Connector and you receive this error :

If your PC is using security features or programs such as a firewall, antivirus, or antispyware, check all settings of these security features or programs to allow a successful connection.

You may try adding the following programs to your firewall list of "Trusted" applications

*Nintendo Wi-Fi Connector USB (NintendoWFCReg.exe)
*Setup.exe (when installing the USB Connector)
*SoftAPInstDrv.bin
*mdriver.exe

Temporarily disable your router's firewall which may allow the Wii console to connect online to recieve a system update. After, you may turn your firewall back on.

If you have questions please let me know. Thanks for using Fixya.
