The K-Lite Codec Pack contains a compatible decoder for Windows. So you need to download codec packs and import the codec to your player. Or you could try some other players that can play DVD disc and files such as Leawo Blu-ray Player

Kashupa2006,

There are several different media players that all support different codecs.

Here are some download links to various codecs:

DivX player's codec pack: http://www.divx.com/en/software/divx-plus/codec-pack
Xvid's codec pack: http://downloads.xvid.org/downloads/xvidcore-1.2.2.zip

This one may also help:
Windows Media Components for Quicktime: http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/en/confirmation.aspx?FamilyId=915D874D-D747-4180-A400-5F06B1B5E559&displaylang=en

Hope this helps.

A better free player will solve the Codec problems and good one is VLC at http://www.videolan.org/. It has most Codecs already installed.

Do i need both real player cloud and quick time 7

Technically you don't need either of them. Real Player Cloud and Quick Time 7 are unrelated programs that have specific codecs for playing video associated with them. Unless you play video that requires either of them or need some of their special features, they're not really needed. Most video online are flash or html5 now and down't require the specialized codecs associated with both players.

Downloadwd latest windows 8, now can't see shows. it says "system configuratioon problem

Hiya. Do you mean you can't see shows as in you can't watch videos anymore? If that's the case, you might need to update your codecs to recognise certain types of videos. Try downloading:

Combined Community Codec Player (CCCP): http://www.cccp-project.net/download.php?type=cccp

and also:

VLC video player: http://get.videolan.org/vlc/2.1.3/win32/vlc-2.1.3-win32.exe

These should play pretty much everything. Hope this helps :)

My video cannot be played

Can't really tell from your description what the exact problem is.

If it won;t load then you may be trying to load either a corrupt file or one not supported by the player. Media player handles a lot of file types so it usually is a bad video file. Other than a few Macintosh or apple based video formats havn't had to use another player.

if you can hear the video then all you need to do is install a video codec to see the picture. You can download a few free codec packs. These will have literally hundred of codecs. A codec is simply a translate or a type of video driver. Each is different . Some like DivX allow for a very small file size with a great picture quality. (This is called compression)A few seconds of high grade video may be say 501-0 mb in size using DivX but without a codec it would be 200-300mb in size for the exact same video. That is why they are used. The problem is there are so many differant ones you can't be sure of which one you will need. A codec pack has hundreds of these which are then automatically loaded when needed. Two real good and FREE packs are K-Lte and FFD-Show. Just download one of the packs (pick any of the setups but you only need on of the two smaller ones)
Just go to http://www.free-codecs.com/ and pick one of the two and install and this will fix any codec issues.

If it possible that the media player is the problem. ie the program is corrupt. You can download a new copy from Microsoft and reload it and you can also get one of the codec packs which comes with a version of player.

If none of this fits your problem just respond here and someone should be able to help you out if you can describe the problem with more details.

Won't play certain videos. Dialog box says to update drivers. How do I find them.

Not being able to play certain video files means that you lack some video codecs. You can download a codec pack here:
http://www.free-codecs.com/download/k_lite_codec_pack.htm
Also, you might might want to try out VLC media player because it can play back almost all video formats. You can get VLC media player here:

My HP laptop won't show video files for my WD but it has audio....

What do you mean? The file icons do not show a thumbnail of the video or that if you double click on a video file, it does not open? It sounds as if you need to link the correct video player and codecs to your videos. If you try to play a video on say MS media player and your codecs don't match you get only audio. If this is what is going on, have you loaded your video camera software on your computer? Are the videos Divx, Quicktime, Real?
The new Firefox has a built in video player that may help.

No picture, only sound

Actually this is a problem of the video codec and you need o install some software that will solve your problem completely.

Download :
1) VLC Media Player :

2) K-Lite Codec Pack :

Computer video problem

Hi there

This is something you can try.

Go into My Computer.

Right click one of the video clips.

Select "Open With", then "choose program".

Now you should get a list of programs you can play the file with, the best ones are at the top.

Select Windows Media Player or Real Player.

Click OK.

Now if the video clip works OK....

Repeat the procedure, but this time check the box below that says "always open this type of files with the selected program".
