My windows media center 2005, can't install media?

if you have the OS installed then that tells me you need the sound card drivers. Go to this page:

http://support.dell.com/support/downloads/driverslist.aspx?c=us&cs=2684&l=en&s=pub&ServiceTag=&SystemID=DIM_PNT_P4_8400&os=WW1&osl=en&catid=&impid=

Choose your operating system, then go underneath where it says audio and choose the one that says driver.

Download it and then install it and you should have sound then.

I formatted my hard drive now my media center doesent work

What is the Dell model name?

Did you put in and install the drivers from the drivers CD that comes with the PC? The drivers are on a separate CD from Windows and need to be installed separately after Windows is finished.

If you've gone through the driver installs, including the graphics driver, and you still get the message, post back and I'll help you find the right driver.

Hope this helps!

Ibm thinkpad r40 windows xp-pro after formatting and re-installing the system, all updates and SPs downloaded and installed, the wireless "disappeared"! the radio led wouldn't lit, in the connection list...

if drivers installed device is looking for wifi manager which is the software package for wifi.
you can goto control panel open administrative tools select sevices and scroll to wireless zero config and press start.
this will then use windows settings.done

Can see pictures cannot open

Put in the cd with drivers and utilities already installed on your computer. Some of the programs might have been corrupted or not installed in the first place. Install the programs and you should be able to open your picture files.

Xbox 360-computer?

To connect the Xbox 360 console to this computer, you must be running Windows XP Service Pack 2, Update Rollup 2 for Windows XP Media Center Edition 2005, or Windows Vista.
To obtain your setup package or instructions for connecting your Xbox 360, select the version of Windows installed on this computer from the following list.
To determine the version of Windows XP Media Center Edition that you are running, follow these steps:
  1. Start Media Center.
  2. On the Settings menu, click General.
  3. Scroll down, and then click About Media Center.
  4. Click Software Version

The version number of Media Center you are running is displayed.
To determine the version of Windows XP that you are running, follow these steps:
  1. On the Start menu, right-click My Computer, and then click Properties.
  2. On the General tab, under System, look for the version of Windows that you are running.

Many issues few solutions

Sounds like you have a real mess there that you can lose a lot of time trying to solve. I'd suggest saving all your files to another drive, and then reinstall the OS and only allow the system to update through the Windows update manager/web site, which should be able to match up the right update files. Do all this patching of the OS without installing any other hardware devices to keep it clear where things go wrong. Once the OS is patched completely, install new hardware and patch it separately watching for the tell-tale incompatibilities with XP/MCE2005. Especially watch for legacy devices that might not have modern drivers.

Hope this helps - good luck...

Opening windows media center

i would suggest that you either roll back your driver for the graphics card or do a system restore to a date previous to when the drivers were updated, this wil show in the system restore dates boxes. You are probably running the generic windows driver for your graphics, it's better to see what updates you are installing before updating any hardware drivers.
