Question about Sterling Plumbing 1500D-31S VISTA PIVOT SHOWER DOOR

Have a two handle Sterling shower stall. The shower head is leaking from the cold water inlet. Believe need a replacement stem. Have changed the O ring but has not stopped the leaking. Is there any other adjustments? This is the original faucet set and the house is 32 years old. Thank you for any help.

The part # you supplied is for a shower door and has no bearing to your question. There is no relationship. However, I can say there is no adjustment for any two handle shower stem or even single handle stem. Very rarely will just replacing an "O" ring stop a drip unless it it from through the stem itself and comes out under the handle. When in doubt replace the whole stem...shortcuts will only exasperate the problem. There are no shortcuts in plumbing.

when u got the replacement `O` ring, was it an `O` ring ,,, or a flat washer ???? take the stem out, look inside the faucet body and see if there is a seat. the hole in the center will be square or hex shaped.there may be a chip in it. alot of people over look the seat. you will need a seat tool. it is an angled piece of bar tapered square on one end

It takes a 1/8" allen wrench to remove handle. To increase hot water flow remove plastic dial that sets temperature. It is right behind handle and slides off stem for easy adjustment.

Remove indicator and replace about 1/8 to 1/4 turn counter clock wise to increase to hotter temperature.

You did not tighten the stem enough, allowing the seat to rise just above the cavity where it will sit. You may also have scaling in this area preventing the seat from sitting flush.

Sterling shower stem replacement, anyone know how? I changed it out, hard to turn, and slips at times

Sterling like many others made many different types of faucets and stems. To service any of them you need to remove the handle. Then depending on the type of stem you can make your repairs. Most common Sterling stems were brass. Most common cause of slipping is stripped broach on stem and or handle. The broach is the star shaped part of the stem that the handle slides on. If it is stripped replacing the stem and or handle should do the trick. As for the tighteness of the stem, this could be the packing nut on top being to tight or stem may be damaged. Hope this helps. Water leaks from my cold water and hot water shower handles (separate) whether the water is on or not. How can I fix this?

turn the water off! at the meter and go buy a faucet seat removal tool its L shaped with square heads on each end also buy a faucet valve socket to remove the faucet stems after you take the knobs and unscrew the trim housings once you unscrew the faucets stems there inside the hole deep is 2 brass seats that you need to remove and change put the new seats in and replace the washers on the stems and reassemble

I changed the stem on hot water because shower leaking- now no hot water from shower head when water turned back on- wont pass stem and some spreay from where stem is?

I am not sure what brand of shower valve you have but it sounds like you lost a peice of rubber or plastic in the valve and it has either lodged in the diverter or somwhere from the valve to the shower head. Is it posible that you got the wrong stem or switched stems or maybe it was put in backwards. Wish i could narrow it down for you,Need better info.

Water comes out the shower head without the faucet lever being engaged

the whole faucet is bad it has an internal leak replace the whole thing

Sterling shower faucet

The problem is that the supply lines feeding that faucet are reversed. That is the cold supply line is feeding the hot side of the faucet and the hot supply line is feeding the cold side.

The fix is to reverse the supply lines where ever they can be most easliy accessed.
