The water solenoid on the back of the refrigerator at the bottom is becoming clogged. There is only a very small hole in the diaphram of the valve. I suspect you have very hard water, or at least a fair amount of sediment in the water.
This valve will most likely need to be replaced by a qualified technician.
They sometimes can be cleaned, but it doesn't always work.

SOURCE: amana ice maker not working

From your description, would it be likely to assume that you are experiencing a water pressure issue? If so, then I would start the investigation at the supply valve that attaches to your homes water lines and do whatever is best for you, i.e. replace the valve or attempt to disassemble and inspect it for blockage. Once that has been removed from the list of suspects, the next culprit is your water inlet valve on the refrigerator. This has filter screens and can become blocked by water residue. These can be removed and cleaned or you can replace the valve to completely eliminate any other electrical/mechanical aspects of the valve. Sounds like the water hose to the ice maker has come loose. Is it in warranty?

If there is a reset button on your ice maker try pushing it. Many ice makers have two holes for reset. A general rule of thumb is if the ice maker fingers are stopped in a slightly vertical position then your ice maker unit is working. If the fingers are stopped anywhere else then it needs some sort of attention or replaced. Make sure there is water, or ice in the ice maker tray, if not then the problem is with water supply.

The water dispenser is not putting out water and ice maker is not making ice. The fridge frequently cycles like it is trying to send out water.

it's still under warranty for up to 1 year, call whoever you bought it from and it should be repaired free of charge and next time you write send model number.

Water not getting to water dispenser or ice maker - lines are clear.

Do you hear a clicking sound when attempting to dispense water? A click is usually heard when either of the water supply solenoid valves (one for water & one for ice) opens and closes when dispensing water, or when refilling the ice cube tray right after the ice maker dumps the ice cubes.

If you don't hear the clicking sound, there is probably an electrical problem. Given that BOTH water and ice no longer work, I doubt it both the water and ice maker water solenoid valves failed at the same time. It is probably going to require some digging to solve it.

If you do hear a clicking sound, check the shut off at the supply source. The "tap" type valves that puncture a sink's cold water supply line can become clogged by mineral deposits over time. Make sure that the fridge isn't resting on a supply line, effectively crushing it shut or closed - likewise, the line may have become kinked when the fridge was pushed back into position. You should try to dispense water while the fridge is out from the wall to see if it is a kinked line. Check the entire exposed length of the line for evidence of crushing, too. If the line is routed in cabinets, etc. you should try to inspect the line to make sure nothing fell out of a drawer - and crushed / kinked the line. Replace any damaged water line found. You could shut the water off, and remove the line from the fridge - then have someone turn the water on while you hold the line to fill a container. If it flows - the problem lies in the fridge. If not - it could be a clogged inline filter or bad valve.

There are a bunch of things to check that should be pretty easy to start. Hopefully, you needn't go any further. Good luck!

We have a Hotpoint side by side fridge. It always makes

check the door in the dispenser if moisture is condensing and freezing so that the door won't open try manually popping the door open just before you attempt to dispense ice, maybe you'll get lucky, otherwise your going to have to get a technician to come and check the micro-switch for the dispenser

No water going in the ice maker but water dispener

Pour about 2/3 cup of water into icemaker . If it freezes and does not dump , replace the icemaker . Check to make sure the coils are clean of dust , lint , pet hair , etc . If it does dump , and does not refill with water , replace the water inlet valve ( piece behind refrig where the wall water line connects to on the fridge ) . Check to make sure the fill tube that fills the icemaker is not blocked with ice , still indicating a bad water inlet valve ( slow seep ) .

Does not make ice

Is it cold enough to make ice? near 10 degrees. Is there water in the ice mold? Is it frozen? If there is not any pour some in and see if it dumps it when if freezes. If it does, does it refill with water. If not, swap the wires on your dual water inlet valve. It's where the water supply comes into the fridge. Then try the water dispenser. The water should come out in the ice maker letting you know if the valve is working and the water line is clear. The line could be frozen behind the ice maker because of a leak in the inlet valve.

GE Fridge Not Dispensing water

First place to start is in the fridge. Look behind the crisper drawers for the water tank. It may have frozen at the outlet line. Try thawing it out with a hair dryer or a heat gun, being careful of course not to melt anything.
