I own a similar Kitchen Aid fridge that had a defrost icing issue: Kitchen Aid KSRP25FNBL00
> Ice had plugged the drain hole at bottom of chill coil section inside the freezer compartment.
> I learned that the coil, circulation fan was not working, but condenser was working.
> I paid a tech to replace the circ fan, about $200, including a new swiss-made fan. He said it was unusual for these fans to fail, but not unheard of.
Expensive, but saved the purchase of a new fridge. Has worked great for 6 months since then.
HOpe that helps.

The most common cause of coils, lines or components freezing over are low refrigerant charge, lack of airflow across coil or a blockage of the condensate drain. If the outdoor coil is frozen over then the defrost mechanism may not be working properly.
the evaporator coil is frozen over and cant release cold air due to this, defrost the unit remove rear panel inside freezer and troubleshoot the defrost heater and thermostat and also make sure the fan near this coil is running, on the evaporator coil as,you cant blow cold air thru a coil covered by ice
if the rear wall inside the freezer has ice build-up on it then the defrost isnt working, remove this panel and check evaporator coil if its iced up the evaporator fan cant blow the cold air thru this coil, defrost it with a hand held hair dryer, then check the heating element located below the evaporator coil for continuity then check the round defrost thermostat on the top of the evaporator coil, note, this part needs to be tested below 32degrees to test good above that temp it will show open or bad
Many times a freezer and/or refrigeratordo not work right because of a dirty condenser coil...there are also many otherthings that can go wrong.
If you are hearing a clicking or buzzing thencheck out the last two tips.
If your refrigerator is running but warm, then...
Check out these tips that I wrote about that... it is a great place to starttrouble shooting your unit...and something that you can do rather then callinga repair person to do a simple thing for you...

Make sure the freezer fan motor is running. Remove the rear panel in the freezer and check for frozen coils. If coils are frozen replace the defrost heater and thermostat. Check the air vents to the fresh food section, are they frozen closed?
frozen coils not always means freon problem. low air flow across evaporator coils could cause freeze up. if door is opened and closed an abnormal amount could cause a freeze up or even something pushed up against the air intake in the refridgerator. i would thaw it out completely and restart it, theres a chance it was nothing major. good luck
