Stuck in demo

Was driving today, and switching radio stations and somehow it switched me to demo mode. And I have tried everything to get it to work. No buttons work, and I have tried holding down push-menu as stated in the manual. Reset doesn't work either, any help at all would be appreciated

Thanks

Same problem, stuck in demo mode. User guide instructions don't work for my case. (Press-and-hold "push-menu" never results in an option to turn off demo mode.)

    Anyone have any other ideas?

  • Anonymous Dec 11, 2008

I've had my AIWA CDC-X504MP for 4.5 years and it was under a 4 year best buy warranty. I was in the middle of changing stations and this happened. Tried Reset and several other things - only button that works is holding down "display" will let me reset the clock - otherwise nothing else works. Does anyone know - is this a fuse issue? I haven't seen anything else online on what to do. I'm planning to get a new car within the next year so I'm not looking to spend 200 on a new cd player if I don't have to. Any ideas?

I also have exactly the same problem with the player stuck in demo mode. I can only get into setting mode of the clock. Otherwise none of the buttons work. Can any one help?

I had the same issue and was about to give up.
cleaning, key combos and such didn't work out.

Solved the dirty way, as described some comments above:

"Just took the faceplate from the "push-menu" button and hit it against a hard surface [not too hard but not too soft hits] and thats it, it worked again."

ah, the good manners!

All this week long my Aiwa CDC-X504MP won't work at all, same situation than you all. Tried to make up some button combos with no avail. An hour ago i made it work again. How? Just took the faceplate from the "push-menu" button and hit it against a hard surface [not too hard but not too soft hits] and thats it, it worked again. Not a good "solution" that is, but it's working again.
errr hope it helps. bye

I've had the same thing happen to me twice. Unfortunately I don't remember what button(s) I pressed to fix the problem. However, I know that I was holding down the "source" button as I pressed another. It seemed like I held it down for a little while then it turned on. There must be something wrong or a weird button combo in order to turn it into demo mode. I'll post again if I can figure out what I did before to fix it.

I just fixed mine. I think it's something with a security lock. My default code seems to be with 6 and 5, so by hitting 665 or 655 I got my radio back to fully function. When this whole mess started I had gone from my radio station set at 6 to 5 and must have hit the buttons in such a way it activated a security lock that only allowed me to change the time or view the demo. Hope this helps....

My solution was similar to this, and I think it may be a security thing. I read a lot of tips, tried everything and then just started pressing the 1-6 numbers a hoard of times, randomly, then pressed the far right double button source/mode and all the sudden I heard the antenna raise up and it worked.

1. While in Demo mode push and hold the "PUSH-MENU" button until "set" appears on the screen.

2. push "Seek" + or - to select Demo

3. turn "PUSH-MENU" to select "demo off" (turn the volume knob)

Every Button Switches Between Radio and CD

Reset the radio by pressing a sharp object (pin, pen, etc.) into the small reset hole on or behind the face. If it doesn't have one, disconnect the negative cable from the battery for two minutes and reconnect. If you still have this problem, the radio is bad.

I have a jvc kd-r45 it will not recall any pre set radio stations after it is switched off and demo mode kicks in every time i start it up. Tried reset any ideas?

I don't think you have the memory keep alive wire attached to a constant 12V+ source. This is why it is not keeping set stations and reverting back to demo more every time it is switched on. Usually the memory keep alive wire is yellow.

I have a kenwood radio and the radio wont switch off demo mode no matter what i do. I have looked at all wires etc and it still wont save preset stations or settings.. Its driving me mad! When i bought...

if it isn't saving stations you need to make sure the yellow wire is going to a constant power source. without knowing what brand or make of radio you have, it is hard to say how to turn off the demo mode.

Demo mode Kenwood KDC-237

To turn off the demo you need to press the src button to put it in standby mode. Then press the menu button as if to change the settings and use the joystick to scroll right until you see demo, then turn it to off....

Do as above to allow you to enter AUX mode this will let you plug in your MP3 player to the input on the face and hear music through it ;)

hope this helps you

Demo mode

Hi... your radio has 2 power wires. One is red and the other is yellow. Check for power on both of these wires with the key on. If both have power then you probhably have them switched around!! (one is constant power for memory to "remember" the settings, the other is key on power to that the radio knows the ignition key is on or off. From the sounds of what you are describing it sounds to me like you have your wires switched around...
