When the printer is used often, and ink and dust accumulate inside, the detector switch will sometimes get stuck and won't be depressed by the cover correctly. Open the cover and look right next to the sticker. There is a small rectangular hole with the switch. Use a very thin tool like a small screwdriver or paperclip bent open to push the switch inside the hole to the back of the printer. Do NOT push it just down! You *must* move the switch away from you. Hold the switch in this position and close the cover. Carefully pull out your tool from the gap.
there may be any struck between the cover open switch which is in main board of the printer and the lever in the cover. open the cover and press the lever behind the cover. if the cover open message go away then do the same for 2 - 3 times after close the cover and try. even now he same problem happen make some arrangement or stick a paper bit on the top of the lever so as to enable it to press the sensor properly
This is a common problem with the Brother 7820 printers. If you open the back cover, there is a black tray in front of the fuser roller that falls back. That black tray has an arm on the inside on one side that triggers the back cover open message. try pushing that tray up firmly against the back with the back cover open and see if the message disappears. If it does, try taping folded paper to the rails on inside of the grey back cover. The verital plastic rails are what push the black tray into the printer. By taping the paper on you are adding depth to them which will push the black tray further into the printer. If this doesn't work and you cannot get the message to go away from pushing on the black tray, there may be a problem with the trigger. If this were the case I would replace the printer. You can find the 7820 refurbished for $99 online. Just google 7820 refurb.
I had the same error message. I also tried every compartment... Here's ultimately what my problem/solution was...
I turned the printer around and fully opened the back cover. I found that one of my kids had somehow fed a small piece of paper/cardboard into the printer. When I opened the back cover all the way I could see that obstruction (which I hadn't seen before). Pulled it out, and the error message went away. Works fine now.
try closing the battery cover. if you do not know what that is, it is where the sd card and the battery are held. the cover for that is the battery cover. if it is closed, and still not working, make sure its closed all the way, if it is, take it to best buy or circut city or any other electronics store and ask them.
