Twice beep means either video card is disconnected or it's non-functional.
if it's a laptop under warranty, take it to an authorized dealer
if it's not under warranty and you are not comfortable in breaking down your laptop, then see if a local computer place can check it out
if not under warranty, and you are fairly computer savy, reseat the video board, memory, and cpu (if possible). somewhere there is a loose connection. if not working, the main board might be bad.

Thanks! It seems to be the motherboard. Unfortunatley not under warranty so have purchased a new machine. Still hopeful of getting the Compaq running again though.
Hi, I have a compaq presario V2000. about a month ago, when trying to power up, a blue screen came up and then a flash of instructions very briefly, not long enough to read, and then a off. The IT lady where I work says that I only need to get a new hard drive, and the info can be retrieved and put on the new drive. Do I just buy any SATA hard drive, or does it have to have my model number included on the compatables list? There are several on Ebay for reasonable prices, but none of them have this model listed...there are many, many other compaq models listed tho...thanks for any help
