My speakers in my Dell laptop sound like they have blown. They make a very annoying echoing sound every time i use the volume on my computer. I have only had the computer for about a month, and this problem started a week ago. Is there anything I can do to fix this?

I believe this monitor does not have a built-in speaker. If you have the optional hang-on speaker, it must connect to the laptop's speaker/headphone port (speaker's green connector cable/plug). You cannot use the external speaker and the headphone at the same time unless you are using a Y connector cable.
This monitor has a VGA and a DVI-D ports for video input. Neither supports sound.
I hope this helps. Dell 24 Monitor P2414H

The static noise may be a defect. If your laptop is still under warrent, contact dell for a warrenty replacement. I had the same problem with my inspirion. Sigmatel
I have experience with that model of speakers. When they give up the ghost, the volume is VERY low. But just to be on the safe side, check the volume properties to make sure nothing is set too low. Start>Control Panel>Sounds and Audio Devices. Check the slider bars here, check in the Advanced area as well to make sure nothing is low and check the Speaker Volume as well. If all the bars are set to their maximum, it's time for some new speakers.

Try right clicking on yout Volume Icon in the system tray (where your clock is). Click on Open Volume Control. Make sure you have some audio playing, then just go through each channel and mute each one, 1 by 1 until the echo has gone. If that don't work, then again, right click on Volume Icon in Tray, click on Adjust Audio Properties, then under speaker settings, select advance, then choose Desktop Stereo Speakers, under the Speaker Setup Options.
One of those should work. If it is your Mic causing the Echo, then you would get loads of feedback if you whack up the volume. If you don't get the feedback, then it's more then likely the Speaker Setup or some Sound FX is enabled through your Sound Card Software.
i have the same speakers. but isntead of one side going, both sides are dead. and the light on the control side doesnt even turn on it is plugged in but i do not know what is wrong
