check continuity thro the grill element. if ok, then suspect selector switch. there is a overheat cut-out but this would affect the oven element as well
You need a bigger, more powerful grill. It sounds like the one you have cannot keep up with the amount of food you want to cook. Other than making sure any controls are set on maximum, there's not much you can do about this. Return the unit for a refund.
