Disc will not finalize dvd r disic will not let you go into the menu to finalize

Sometimes the heads of the DVD player need to be cleaned. There are cleaning disks available at various retail stores or online. I have used them and they clear up most of the no disc issues I have had.

You can record and finalize DVD+Rs one time. After you fill a DVD+R or

complete all the recordings you want on a single DVD+R, finalize it.

Otherwise, the DVD+R will play only on this Recorder.To play the Disc on

other DVD Players, you must finalize it first.

Once you finalize a DVD+R, you cannot record on it anymore or make

editing changes.Therefore, make sure the Disc is as you want it before you

finalize it.

Press SYSTEM MENU. Press

9 repeatedly to select Finalize disc. Finalize disc

appears in the menu only when an unfinalized DVD+R is in the

Recorder.

Press OK.

"Finalizing" will appear in the menu.The process may

take a few minutes.

When finalization is complete, the Index

picture screen will reappear.

You cannot unfinalize a DVD+R, and you cannot record or

edit the DVD+R after you finalize it.

A DVD+R will play on other DVD Players only after the
Disc is finalized.

Most of these DVD recorders are really meant to be recorded and played basically on the same machine... Now if the DVD player (that you wish to play, is an older model that is the problem)
But, as far finalizing place the DVD unto tray... close it...now that menu (using the remote) press it..you should have a menu and top menu (top is settings) the menu is play dvd jump to next scene..in settings an Disc that is not finalized should be able to name it and customize it...note if you have use an DVD+/- R you must format prior to use (finalizing is on this same)

Usually you finalize the disc after loading it with all the desired content (leaving a bit of space for the finalization). So if you are recording a TV show, depending on the setting (SP, LP, XP), you might finalize the disc after recording 4 1/2 shows. The How may vary by model but on my DVD recorder, I find the finalize command in the same menu area as adding a title and initializing a DVD-RW disc. So I press Setup to enter the OSD menu, then go down to Disc (looks like an optical disc) then right arrow to enter the sub menu. Then press down to Disc Finalize and the right arrow again and press enter. Select OK and Enter again. (RW discs can be unfinalized to add more content.) Then wait until the process is done.

Select DVD drive, use right navigator and look for DVD management  page under other functions. That should offer you a finalize disc choice.               Or if disc is not full, try adding one more file small enough to fit, and finalizing should be automatic. Your disc may not be able to be finalized if your EH 55 didn't create it in the first place.                   Ricardo

I have a Zenith XBR413 that I have a problem with when I copy from VCR tapes to DVD-R discs. After I copy them, I can finalize the disc using the SETUP button on the remote and then choosing the very bottom disc icon at the bottom of the menu screen. It then leads you through the finalization procedure. But the disc will still not play on any DVD player but the XBR413

Try this. Insert DVD. Press SETUP button. Once DVD has loaded the DISK FINALIZE option will be available. You can then FINALIZE.

Cam must be plugged into the mains adapter/charger to finalize a disc

1 - press the DISC NAVIGATION button
2 - press the MENU button
3 - use the froward/backwards/play-pause buttons to choose 'Finalize Disc' on the disc menu screen
