Sound like a thermostat< the pilot heats this an sends a mini current to the valve to remain open alongs as this mini current is maintained> fauly pilot will not provide mini current> you can bypass the system but not worth it, these parts are cheap and easy to replace

Check the thermopile, it should be free of soot or any form of dirt. Pilot flame quality must be good. Gas pressure should meet the requirement as stated on the nameplate.

Are you holding it in long enough? It takes between 20 seconds-1 minute.

If it still doesn't stay lit, replace the thermocouple.

Hi there.
Check and tighten all wiring connections.
Check the hi limit for continuity across the terminals using an ohm meter, if it has no continuity, you have to replace the hi limit.

Have an older PITCO FRIALATOR with a brand new hermo pile. When I light it I wait approx. 2 min and pilot will not stay lit. What should I try next?
if its not the thermo couple, it may be the gas valve or the pilot jet needs cleaning

Pilot light does not stay on
Hi there.
Try cleaning the thermopile, it must be free of soot or any form of dirt. Ensure that the gas pressure is sufficient, all wiring connections are tight and the hi limit is good.
If all of these are okay and the pilot still wont stay lit, try replacing the thermopile.

Fryer wont stay lit, only two burners will lite, and will only stay lit for about 5 min. will then go out and must start over
Check the gas pressure, it must meet the standard gas pressure written on the nameplate. Check also the quality of pilot flame, poor pilot flame quality will not properly heat up the thermopile which in turn will result in poor fryer operation.

Deep fryer heats up to 550 and shuts down pilot and everytime and it wont let me heat to the temp im wanting it to but however if i shut it down myself it stays lit
What temp do you want it to run at? If you are trying to go hotter than 550 that is not safe and I do not recommend it.

Pilot wont stay lit
If it will not stay lit from a cold start, you will need a thermopile. You can check it if you have a DC meter that will test milivolts. It should be putting out between 300 and 500. If it will not stay lit after the pot gets hot, you will most likely need a high limit. Try pushing the red button below the thermostat. This will reset the high limit.

Pitco fryer pilot out
if you changed the thermopile and still have the same problem make sure that the sensing bulb is directly over the flame. If it is and the thermopile is installed correctly the next thing would be the gas valve.
