This happens alot with modded PSPS. I asume you are using a custom firmware seeing as you are running ISOs but you can try to reinstall the custom firmware and reinstall ur ISO games. You may have a huge internal software issue and It could possibly be bricked.

First if you have custom fw make sure you change your setting on the recovery menu try all of them some will work with some games but not all try m33 driver or 9660 driver or any others that are loaded on your firm ware. if you do not know if you have custom firm ware go to menu system setting system info if it just reads a number i.e. 5.00 you have standard firmware and these do not play iso's you will need to have you psp moded. if it is more like 5.00m33-2 then you have custom so just verify your settings. If you bought a psp from e bay then updated it good chances are it had custom firm ware and now you don't after update and there for need to re mod.

Did you update your PSP's firmware before turning it off? Some games or applications on PSP won't run on original sony firmwares, some of them need custom firmwares

I keep getting the "wrong disc inserted error". I'm using windows 7 with virtual box, and I've made an .iso file of the actual install disc. I installed the game onto a virtual machine (running windows xp)...

OK, so most Discs have a key hardcoded into the actual disc. when you do an ISO of the disc, the game won't play.
these are anti-piracy tactics. Playing games off and ISO is ******* in most places.

its maybe cause you have no UMD and you"re trying to run an ISO file. to fix this, you can press select button and choose in the UMD mount mode: SONY NP6990. if this isnt working just put an iso in your UMD drive.

Update version error (80020321)

What version did you update to? most likely the lens is just dirty a little alcohol and qtip and the lens can be cleaned but be sure to be careful. You can also buy a cleaning disc as well. If you need further assistance let me know, also please take a moment to accept and rate my solution accordingly.
