I have a Panasonic VHS-DVD player/recorder model DMR-ES35V. I was recording and playing back at the same time using a DVD-RAM disk (using the time slip feature). After about an hour of viewing I got an error message saying there was something wrong with the disk and it quit working. I had used this feature just as instructed in the manual in the past once with no issues and once with the disk stopping the record function before the 4 hour recording was completed. Now if I put whenever I try to use the DVD side of the machine it makes a sound like its trying to read a disk but can't find what it's looking for to play it. Then an error message comes on the screen saying that the disk can't be read. Even if I put in a commercially purchased and prerecorded movie. It seems like I just need to reset the machine back to its factory settings or something but Panasonic offered me nothing in the way of instructions to do so. I have already tried to unplug the unit and then plug it back in. No luck. Any suggestions? Thom Dixon [email protected]

Panasonic DVD-RAM "Invalid Disc"

This would suggest the disc is defective, especially when all others work. I would return the other.

My Panasonic dmr-es35v has decided to cease recording, and makes loud grinding noises, any ideas, reset?

You can try a reset, but I doubt it would do much good. The loud grinding noises and failure to record sound to me like the DVD-RAM drive has had it. This sadly is not a cheap part to replace, and there's the issue of fitting/alignment/firmware upgrade etc.

Uneconomical for a model that is over 4 years old (since it has no digital tuner).

However, if you are prepared to spend a small fortune on a workshop repair/replacement DVD drive, go ahead, but I warn you it could cost as much as, if not more than the price of a new VHS/DVD recorder combo unit.

Dmr-ES30V Dvd plays pre record movies fine but I

Try a different brand of blank dvd+r or -r. you will find that your dvd machine is fussy on what discs it plays. More exspensive dvd players are fussy with what dvd discs you put in, as cheaper dvd players would virtualy play most types of dvds.

Panasonic dvd recorder wont record or play

It is also possible that you are trying to record using an already used -R or an unformatted RAM disk.
