Microsoft Lifecam VX-1000 Installation problem - freeze on setup
Am attempting to install my Microsoft Lifecam X1000 on my Vista 64bit operating system. I have installed the software, Vista has searched and found drivers, I am now at the point where it is setting up the audio and visual bits and pieces. I do the sound check, and my speakers work fine. I then go to the microphone check, and usualy it works fine, but sometimes it indicates the sound is very loud and automatically moves the volume slider right to the bottom, but the sound indicator is still in the red. There is no excessive noise. When it does this and I click on next, the program freezes (says the program is not responding). If the microphone section works OK, I then go to the video section, where it then freezes before showing a preview. Sometimes it comes up with the text telling me I can do adjustments, sometimes it just comes up with a black box. If I attempt to close the program in task manager it will not close and I have to restart my computer. When it freezes, it also freezes my MSN.
Solutions I have tried:
I have tried leaving the window open, for up to 3 hours. It did not recover from the not responding freeze and I had to restart my computer.
I have unplugged the camera, uninstalled the software and then restarted my computer, re-installed the software, then replugged the camera in and attempted to set it up again.
I have looked in device manager and it tells me the camera is working.
I have used device manager to check if the drivers are up to date and they are.
Is there anything else I can do before I throw this stupid thing through the window??? I have tried setting this up about 50 times and I am really at my wits end...
The camera itself has set up fine... installed no problem on my vista 64bit.
Like before device manager says its working, have uninstalled and reinstalled it twice, even tried plugging it into different USB ports.
When i double click desktop or try to open program any other way, it looks like its gonna open then i fet message on screen saying lifecam.exe stopped working, windows checking for solution, but no solutions appear.

You need to go to the manufactures site and download the VISTA
driver for the camera. Then follow the info below to install
the program.
Disconnect the Camera from the USB port and reinstall
the CD or Downloaded software program. When the program asks you
to connect the camera to the USB port, do so and it should work.
Hope this helps. Bud
