I have a Toshiba Satellite M305-S49052, and for the first year under warranty, everything was going smoothly. however recently, horizontal lines have appeared at the top and bottom of my screen, and after several minutes of watching these lines, the screen begins to twitch and show the top section of screen, at the bottom. after about ten more minutes, the screen begins to twitch rapidly, eventually showing a giant white blur fade into the screen, then resetting itself. this occurs until the computer is turned completely off, repeatedly glowing white and resetting, twitching, and beginning the annoying cycle again every few seconds. I am pretty sure the problem is not with the monitor of the laptop, because the problem does not occur immediately, but over time. If I were to shut the laptop down and start it again immediately, the problem continues.. I am left to believe something within my computer is overheating and causing these visual problems.

Thank you so much mr yayimfixed, I can gladly say YAY! I'm fixed!

I connected my laptop to my HDTV and the image is flawless and crisp. Since the good news is that I wont have to buy a new Motherboard, and I can easily go buy a $15 vga cord, all I have left to ask of you is this: What do I do about my broken laptop screen? I am not a computer professional, so I doubt I will try taking the laptop apart for monitor surgery.

I am also unsure of how laptops work in general, I wouldnt even know if its possible to replace a laptop monitor at all. but if it the case, I'd like to know exactly why my screen does this in the first place; and also if there is a simplistic fix for this problem. [other than what I am currently doing, using my HDTV as a monitor.]

You Should try updating the driver and see if that helps the issue. Go to suport.toshiba.com and update your bios & video drivers.

Alternatively if you have a flat panel television (not all flat panels have a vga port) or a spare monitor sitting around?, using a vga cable you can plug your laptop into either of them and see if it happens with the external display. If it does then it is an issue with the video card that you have.

Bad news if it is the video card. you need to get a new motherboard because its attached and can't be removed. The problem with an overheating graphics card is that it does not use thermal paste but usually a thermal pad and that can be replaced. Hopefully that fixes it, But it sounds like a issue you need a professional for, unless that is you are comfortable doing the work.

Yayimfixed, I can now easily say Yay! I'm fixed. vga hookup cleared the problem, all I have to do now is figure out how to fix the screen of my laptop. At least I won't be needing a new Motherboard :D So thanks again, you have been extremely helpful. I can also tell you I am happily using my laptop at this very moment, typing to you on my clear and amazing-quality picture screen ^_^ I cannot begin to tell you how happy you have made me today.

Toshiba Satellite m305-s4910

remove the battery pack and power source. make sure nothing is plugged into the laptop. hold down on the power button for 30 seconds. then reinstall battery, plug the the adapter into a known live power source (the real reason for your problem) and power it up!

Toshiba satellite m305-s4910 flickering toolbar

My M305-S4910 was doing the same thing. After some research, I replaced the video cable. The flickering was not as bad, but still there. I just replaced the inverter, and the pink line beneath the toolbar is now gone and so is the flickering. :-)

Toshiba mic not working with Win 7. I have a Satellite M305-S49052 Toshiba laptop. I have had the laptop for a little over a month and bought it new. I had been using Skype over that month and my...

It sounds like a driver or hardware incompatability issue. Go to the Toshiba web site and see if they have updated Windows 7 drivers or other support for your system first.

Second, you may be able to get the mic to work using the Windows 7 compatability mode which mimics Windows XP.

Model 55X70 Toshiba Projection tv

dont know about warranties but horizontal lines means your horizontal frequency which runs about everything has drifted off sync and if too high or low it will activate shut down circuits in high voltage and power suppy, even causing HOT transistor to short. good luck and call a tech.
