Hello thtere,
If it is not in the user guide, it ca't do it.
From the guide, here,http://www.manualslib.com/manual/161740/Sony-Walkman-Nw-A1000.html
'Always use SonicStage or CONNECT Player to transfer to the player audio files that you want to play. Audio files transferred with Windows Explorer cannot be played by the player'
Service Manual for the NW-A1000 available here find page 6 for the Lithium Ion battery exploded diagram and how to change it I think its a 3.7V sealed cell.
Hi Stephanie you might want to check out this LINK it is the service manual for this walkman I think section 3 page 6 shows the battery removal for you hope this helps.
If you get the spinning disc error on your sony nw a1000 it means the hardrive is knackerd.
The hardrive in the sony NW A1000 is a segate ST1.2 6gb and these can be bought off ebay for around £8. If you can't find a 6gb one you can fit an 8gb hardrive BUT your NW A1000 will only use 6gb of it.
If you search on the internet you can find instructions on how to remove the back cover of your NW A1000 which is very easy to do! You then unplug the hardrive (be very careful!) and replace it with the new seagate hardrive. Turn the NW A1000 on and go to the home menu, select "settings", then select "intialize disc" and it will format your new hardrive so that it can work with NW A1000.
Reset Update firmware Try this: disconnect the player from the computer, turn it off, hold in the volume + button, and reconnect the player to the computer while holding the volume + button in. Keep holding the volume + button for an additional 5-50 seconds. Windows should eventually go into recovery mode and revive the player- it will pop up a window that says Found New Hardware. Wizard. Call Sony
firstly all the tracks you want must be converted into mp3 format. You can get hold off mp3 converter software such as Power and winlame. also all the tracks you want has to be imported into the Connect Player software. you should have a cd that comes with the player, it is similar to iTunes with the iPod. i think you can possibly download it from the sony website. when you have them both convert the tracks into mp3s and then import them into the Connect player. From Connect you will be able to transfer the music across. Hope it helps
