Actually, the XL1 is on Canons 'Discontinued Service' list and they will no longer repair them. However, this problem is usually can usually be repaired fairly inexpensively.

I placed a sony digital8/Hi8 tape in the camera and attempted to record but only got a blinking yellow underscored triangle in the middle of the screen and a blinking code; C32:00 in the upper right corner...

Hi

Thanks for using FixYa. Error C 32:00 is caused due to bad Gear assembly, to resolve this issue with the battery &cassette removed try whack on the underside, if after doing this still the issue is not resolved then you'll have to get the Gear assembly replaced. To remove the tape thats stuck you'll have to remove the two screws that hold the cover on the tape holder. Please do rate the solution if the issue is resolved or post a comment for further assistance.

Thanks

Cannot eject cassette

Remove power source/ battery from camera for couple of minutes, replug/ attach battery and check.
If camcorder still gives error then its mechanical issue in tape mechanism and qualified camera tech will repair it.
Thanks.

I get an eject symbol and beep and error code c32:11, original issue was that it ate a tape

Hi,
The error C 32:11 denotes for mechanical unsuitability, This problem appears when the improper insertion of the cassette been done, or lose cassette tape stuck,
In all these situations mechanical adjustment is required, You are suggested to please contact any expert for the mechanical adjustment.
Hope you will understand my sayings.

DEW message keeps coming up on camera

Dew has condensed in the camera. Eject the cassette but leave the cassette door open.remove the battery . Borrow a hair drier . set it to optimum temperature(not vey hot but but hot enough to cause discomfort when blown on fingers). direct the hot air through the cassette compartment door for about five minutes. reattach the battery and reinsert the tape.
Good Luck,

MX2, it displays the following: "remove the cassette" or eject. I thought it was a condensation problem but all attempts failed, please help me.

On Canon camcorders, "remove the tape" error is due to no data reading by video head. You may have clogged heads or somewhere along the area. Initially, I would try to insert good clean "video head cleaning tape" and run for about 7 seconds and see if that resolve the symptom. If it persists, it need a help from a technician. Good Luck. Tape will not eject servo reaches halfway but sticks XL1s

Try this...

Hit the eject button. As soon as it makes it half way, take the battery out.
Leave the white cover open, put the battery back in.

This should take the tape cartridge up all the way and eject the tape.

I had the same problem and it ejected the defective tape

E04 Error Message

Here's what i found. I was able to clear the message by opening and closing and ejecting the cassette. I also had to play with the battery at the same time. Keeping the cassette door open and then pulling out the battery. After is did this a couple of times i got the message to clear. I too haven't used my camcorder for some time and now that the error message has cleared the camcorder tells me that i need to clean the heads. Hope this helps. Below is the message i found that pointed me toward ejecting the cassette. Good Luck, i'm off to buy a tape head cleaning cassette. An error indication (E03 or E04) appears. - (E03 or E04 UNIT IN SAFEGUARD MODE REMOVE AND REATTACH BATTERY) This massage a malfunction of some kind has occurred. In this case the camcorder's functions become unusable. - Eject the cassette once and re-insert it, then check if the indication clears. When it does, you can resume using the camcorder. If the indication remains, consult your nearest JVC dealer or service center

Remove The Casette Message

THESE CAMERAS ARE PEICES OF ****!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I suggest that no body buys from cannon again!!
I am suppose to record my sister-in laws wedding and BOTH of my ELURA 100's are displaying the EJACT TAPE message!

"TEMP. FIX"
This takes pateince however for me it works....When you get the EJECT TAPE mesage....eject the battery with the power on (thus the power will go off by means of the battery not being in camera) then slap the battery back in....and KEEP doing this untill eventually the camera will NOT DISPLAY the message and actual work.

It may take up to 20 trys ....slap it in..slap it out...slap it in slap it out...BUt for me it works.

If it appears to work but as you hit the RECORD button it beeps and displays the EJECT tape message again...Go back and eject the battery again and repeat the STEPS...but dont worry , that means your getting closer to it working.. LOL

P.s- I hate CANON
