Disabling firewall? i cant figure out how to log into my modem and turn the firewall off? i cant find the number on my box for the URL to get into it, and sense my roommate set it up i dont know the user name or password to log in once im there? any advice?

Try temporarily disabling your firewall. If successful, you will need to open ports to allow for this URL to pass. You can find out the I.P. needed by browsing the logs in your firewall.

You do not need the software that comes with any modem:

Reset the router:

To restore the factory default configuration settings without knowing the administration password

type 192.168.2.1 in the url box in your browser open the belkin router page
left down colum bottom you wil find firewall ->if prompts password click submit - > disable firewall

If your modem/router is connected via ASDL or Cable then open internet explored.
look below the router/modem and it should have the IP address of the box (ie. http://192.168.1.1 )
Type this into internet explorer.
It should take you to the log on page.
Again read the modem/router though if you cant then try user name ADMIN and password PASSWORD.
This will log you into the modem setup. Click firewall/security and switch it off........Get the model of the modem then type it into google and you will find a more detailed guide of the unit.

• Double click Local Network Connection or Modem
• Click Advanced
• Uncheck Internet Connection Firewall

thats where u cud find the firewall settings on ur windows....

and also if ur using any antivirus... u wud be required to diable the firewall settings there as well
since i do not know what antivirus u might be using iam sending u link which has a list of procedures for disabling firewall in various antivirus softwares... identify ur product and do the procedure given under it

Disable router firewalls by logging in to the administration interface of your router and looking for a firewall section.

The administration interfaces differ depending on the manufacturer and model, so your wireless router might not have a firewall section. If it does, click on that section and turn off the firewall.

Try going to the manufacturers website and find out how to access your router. Then try disabling your hardware firewall. You can also reset your modem and unplug all connections for about 10 secs and then do it again. I had that problem with a linksys router and I would get booted all of the time.

This in it's most basic description means that the phone is unable to register with the SIP server, most likely for lack of internet connectivity or a firewall blocking the packets.

If you've verified connectivity and opened the proper ports and the phone fails to initialize and still getting “URL Call Disabled” or all of the above parameters are correct, update the firmware for the router. This can usually be done within the router configuration. Then reboot in order, the cable modem or DSL, the router or switch, then the phone. This may solve the problem.

If still having the same issue, confirm in the router configuration for settings such as SIP proxy, gateway, or application layer or any configuration setting for SIP or VOIP. If any of these do exist, make sure they are turned off as these may only confuse or adversely affect many implementations.

you might have configured your lan settings wrongly.

If your modem was setup for DHCP then you configure your lan to receive IP address automatically, DNS automatically.

If DHCP is disabled on the modem, you have to USE static IP Address for your lan ip and default gateway should be your modem default ip.

the default IP for modem is usually 192.168.1.1
if DHCP is disabled on the modem the sys ip is 192.168.1.3

So Configure your LAN setting as follow and Type http://192.168.1.1 in the address url.

Lan Settings:
IP Address: 192.168.1.3
Subnet Mask: 255.255.255.0
Default Gateway: 192.168.1.1

click ok.
and type the above url, press enter the modem will ask you for username and password.
