Hello,

first, do you know how to successfully hook up a DVD to a TV? It might be that you did not connect the DVD to TV correctly or the Video cable might be defective or failing.

Please crosscheck the below procedure on how to hook up a DVD player to a TV:

  • Check all the input ports located in back of the TV. It needs to have at least composite ports, which are the three round sockets colored yellow, white and red. It could also have an HDMI port (it looks like a small, stretched trapezoid) or component ports (similar to composite, but colored blue, green and red).
  • Disconnect the cable/satellite receiver from the TV only if it is using the TV input port you want to use for the DVD. If this box is connected through an RF coaxial cable (the thick black cable that is twisted into place), you don't need to disconnect it.
  • Connect the DVD player to the TV, using the best cable connection available. An HDMI cable will transmit the bast video/audio combination. If you can't use this, the composite cables (yellow, white, red) will also carry both video and audio. Component cables (blue, green, red) may give you the best video quality but won't transmit audio.
  • Connect a cable to the DVD and TV for audio if you connected the video with component cables. The simplest connection will be through composite audio cables. This means you only need a cable that has red and white plugs.
  • Attach your cable or satellite receiver to the DVD's input, if it has one. You should only need to do this if you are using a DVD recorder instead of just a player. If the DVD recorder has an RF coaxial port, use that. Otherwise, link the cable/satellite's output to the DVD's input through composite cables.
  • Reconnect your cable/satellite receiver to the TV if you had to disconnect it (Step 2) and did not connect it to the DVD's input (Step 5). Using the RF coaxial connection is your best option.
If reverse is the case, please let me know.

Good luck.

Okay, if that be the case, reprogram the TV and let me know the out come so that I can help you further.

    Take care.

I have sound but no picture the menu still displays just nothing from any video inputs its a toshiba 47hl167

I am assuming you have already tried leaving it unplugged for 15 minutes and then trying to restart it. Does it work in the TV mode? I.m not sure if there is a rest button on that model. If you go to Toshiba Support there might be more info.

RELENTLESS SNOW

You shouldn't have to have the tv to channel 3 or any other for that matter if you are in component. You need to make sure the tv is on the component input from your display menu that can be accessed from your remote.

Vc3207 v7 tv/combo dvd player, turn on tv, worked, changed channels, worked, when back to orginal channel, stayed on for a couple of minutes then the screen went black, the little red light came on. tried...

Main system control memory IC fault. This is a very small IC; have 8 solder terminals, and can be located very near to the main system control-chroma IC. Check and replace it. Be sure to replace it with the same number printed on it; in all respect. Otherwise, it won't go. http://electronicshelponline.blogspot.com/ Before replacing it, try a reset to this set, and then check.
There are two methods to reset TVs. The first is simple to do; a Hard Reset. The other is somewhat skilled; is a Factory Reset (System Reset). To make it a hard reset, just unplug the TV from AC mains wall socket, and re-plug it back after 15 minutes or so. If you do this by overnight is better. This procedure will make it a hard reset. If you want to make it a system reset [Factory Reset]; you have to enter its service mode option, and select the factory reset option. If you wish to get some details; check the site linked here.

My Panasonic DLP television suddenly lost picture, went to snow and lost audio. What is wrong?

If you have snow that means you've either lost the signal source (cable satelite antenna) or the TV tuner is bad or your not on a recievable channel. Try hooking a signal to one of the video inputs of the TV.

More info on what you have hooked to the TV would help.

Can't get dvd player to work on this tv!!!

im guessing that you cant go to av mode because you dont have a remote, am I right? if thats the case you need to go to walmart and buy an RF converter. You can plug you dvd into the converter, then run a coax cable from the converter to your tv coax inout aka anteanna input, then depending on your converter switch your tv to either channel 3 or 4 and presto. it will hook up just like vcr's and onld nintendos use to. You can pick up an RF converter cheap at walmart or check e-bay, couple bucks and your watching dvds.

Connecting DVD Player to TV

If the TV doesn't have video/audio input jacks (I don't think this model does) and the DVD player has only video/audio outputs and no RF (channel 3 or 4) output, then you will need an RF converter. They're only about $15 or so. They need to be plugged into an electric outlet, so you may want to get a surge protected outlet strip (if you don't already have one) to plug everything into. Then just hook up the DVD's A/V outputs to the converter and tell Mom to put the TV on channel 3 and make some popcorn.

I am stuck on channel 2

some tv's default to channel 2 after being unplugged.since it is a older tv ,the buttons on the remote and the tv maybe worn down.on the tv itself try pushing the buttons down a liitle harder. if you have aux or line in/video inputs, scroll down on the channel button to log into a aux channel for the dvd player.as for the remote try buying a cheap universal remote to see if that works.
good luck
