Currently there are 2 solutions for the RROD;
The towel trick: if you console is older and more prone to overheating this trick will work best and the most quickly for you.
Reason this works: The old xbox 360's (mainly xbox mobo versions before Falcon and jasper.) have an overheating problem linked mainly to bad airflow and crappy fans (there are really quick repelacements for these.) these problems are also helped by a manufacturing fault on all versions of motherboards before slim that basically lifts the CPU and GPU off the mobo. overheating the xbox this much will actually make the mobo get so hot that it remelts the solder and resolders the GPU and CPU to it. this fix does not help the manufacturing fault you will need to open the xbox itself to fix that.
Solution number 2:
X-clamp Heatsink fix
(scr*w it. im not writing this; go here to find out more. sorry its really indepth and too much work to make a tutorial on it. that being said its DEFFINATLY not hard if youve had experiance opening your xbox before. have fun.)
I have torn up many xbox consoles
i am now currently on my newest and 5th xbox 360
(its a slim and its FANTASTIC)
microsoft screwed up in the begining by making xboxs with a certain type of sauder and other metals making it (over time) vaunerable to heat. the red ring oof death is an overheating issue.
also if you take apart your xbox if you dont put the screws back in perfect your xbox will have continue to show red ring of death.
my friend, as a fellow xbox client i suggest you get $200 and go buy the new 360.
my best regards,
Retnuh
