Hello, I am sorry about your issue. Considering the age of the receiver [2005] it might be difficult to find parts for a repair. Please contact us at 800-229-1687 option #3 so that we can discuss possible options. Thank you, Onkyo USA
I have the same sound bar and in the middle of watching a movie, it just stopped working. I came to the conclusion that it was the optical hookup on the back of the speaker that had an issue. The problem with the entire situation is that I had only owned the sound bar for around two to three weeks and only watched around four movies on it until this problem. Either a fluke or bad quality. Check your optical connection if that is what you have it hooked up to.
Reseat all audio connectors sometimes they get dirty. Do you have surge protection? Do any other audio functions work? Clean your remote change the batteries the mute may be stuck. I vote for the battries being weak and the remote will not clearly send all signals.
Connect the DVD player audio with digital coax into the digital audio connection as you described and the DVD video directly to the TV. Now switch the input mode on the receiver to DVD. Then switch the video output mode on the TV to correspond to the input you plugged into. Any source in 5.1 dolby digital or dts should now work properly and have picture too.
When i played a dvd later that night the c lit up. And dolby digital was available. (I have my dvd optical cable hooked up to my receiver.) I still don't know why they put boxes with no letters in them.
Yet sound still comes out the speakers.
I really thought this receiver was hook up the speakers plug in the mic and your ready for sound.
So i have more questions. i am just trying to work one bug out at a time.
Thanks.
Jim
Select to suit the type of audio from the OPTICAL IN terminal on the main unit. 1 While in “D-IN” mode Press and hold [—SETUP] to select “MAIN/SAP”, “DRC” or “PCM FIX”. 2 While the selected mode is displayed Press [up, down] to make the setting. MAIN/SAP mode (Only works with Dolby Dual Mono) MAIN, SAP§, MAIN+SAP§ (stereo audio) § “SAP” = Secondary Audio Program Dynamic Range Compression DRC ON: Adjust for clarity even when the volume is low by compressing the range of the lowest sound level and the highest sound level. Convenient for late night viewing. (Only works with Dolby Digital) DRC OFF PCM FIX mode PCM ON: Select when receiving only PCM signals. PCM OFF: Select when receiving Dolby Digital and PCM signals. [Note] Audio that is input through the OPTICAL IN terminal cannot be output through the HDMI terminal.
A blue screen means the TV is not receiving a video signal. Check all connections, then try another player, cable, etc. Also, check DVD and TV AV settings.
