Hi,
Generally the LCD screens are covered under 3 yr warranty. If you have purchased it as a seprate product from Dell. Otherwise it would have same warrnaty as your computer system.
You would end up sepnding more money in repairing the LCD , getting a new one would be a better proposition

Thanks
mandeep

How to open up / disassemble Dell E196FP Monitor

On my Dell 19 inch LCD Monitor, E196FPf, there are 4 screws on the back, and you need to pry off the plastic bezel from the front. At the bottom of the bezel are 4 small slots where you can start prying carefully with a screwdriver.

My Dell E196FP monitor flashs colour when computer shuts down and power is still on

my guess would be that the monitor cable is loose in one end or its missing pins have you tried a different cable?

If that doesnt work try to find the correct driver for your monitor that matches your operating system.

My dell e196fp lcd monitor has white lines

Dell had a problem with horizontal lines in some of their monitors a little while back. I would try contacting Dell Tech Support to see if your monitor is one of the one effected. I think they were replacing the monitors that had the problem, but I'm not completely sure.

I downloaded a zip file to update my video driver, it contains e196fp.cat, e196fp.icm, and e196fp.inf, can you tell me where I should place these files in my hard drive?

Go into Windows Explorer. There is a folder under c: \Windows called Drivers where all the drivers are stored. You may have to change the file types, because it is a hidden file and will not show up normally. When you open up Explorer>Click on Tools>Folder Options>View Tab>little circle that you unclick to see hidden files. Just don't forget to click it back after you are done. Good luck.

Dell E196FP resolution 1600 x 1200

LCDS only have a fixed resolution (optimal) so you either need a new lcd that supports the 1600X1200 resolution or use a crt (bulky monitors)

Dell E196FP TCo99 Monitor screen problems

The screen colour changing is apparently an auto test procedure on the monitor and was prompted by a fault with the monitor not automatically shutting down when the computer is shut down. The settings on the monitor have been adjusted to rectify this and the problem is now gone.
