This is usually caused by a leak in the plastic chemical line on the sanitizer. Over time and it doesn't have to be long time for it to happen, the chlorine sanitizer drips on the stainless causing it to pit. Contact your chemical supplier to check this out; The sanitizer is corrosive to stainless when not mixed with water in the machine
SOURCE: Watch case
This is more of a manufacturing than a support problem. However, if you would like to have the watch resurfaced or restored a qualified jeweler should be able to acid wash and plate it for you. It depends on the value of the watch (monetary or sentimental) and how much you're willing to spend. I wouldn't expect plating to run much more than $150 but you'll want to make sure you're clear on the end result (shiny, brushed finish, tinted, etc.).
SOURCE: Rowenta Iron
TO CLEAN THE BOTTOM OF THE IRON, MY NAN USED TO ALWAYS IRON BROWN PAPER, IF THIS DOES NOT WORK, USE A RAG DIPPED IN THINNERS, OR LIGHTER PETROL AND RUB GENTLY.
NORMALLY THE SELF CLEAN SYSTEM IS JUST A BUTTON NEAR OR ON THE TANK THAT YOU PRESS WHILE THE IRON IS ON AND HAS WATER IN, PRESSING THE BUTTON WILL FORCE WATER THROUGH THE STEAM JETS (SO KEEP IRON FACING DOWN) ALSO EMPTY THE IRON AFTER EVERY USE
