I just bought a used HE3 dryer and it sounds like there's like a small shoe or something in it when the drum turns...There's nothing in it, just sounds like it...Is it just off balance, or is there something we can check on it? Thanks

with machine un plugged to eliminate any possible of it coming on !! rotate the drum over by hand at least one full turn , if it becomes stuck at some point , look under and thru back panel at drum for any strange things poking out that don't look quite right , as its quite possible that guides that drum rolls on have broken or popped out
The belt probably broke, and coincidentally happened while drying the shoes. The belt is easy to replace. Open the back and you'll probably see the belt laying on the bottom
It is more than likely the drum rollers that support the rear of the drum. The rollers are small wheels the guide and allow the drum to roll free when drying.
If you pull the dryer away from the wall and remove the back panel, you will see the rollers at the 4 and 8 o'clock position. Lift the drum a bit and see if they are loose or seized.
Good luck, let me know.
Regards,
You need to check if the Spray Arms are knocking against an item in a basket. If the source of noise cannot be determined, run a program without plates or glassware. If the noises continue, let me know for further investigation.
When you turn it on, can your still hear the motor running but the drum doesn't spin? If so, yes, the belt could have broken or slipped off the pulley.
With my dryer, putting in a pair of shoes often makes it turn off. I hear it tumble for a while and then and then I hear a squeal and then the dryer turns off.
I have seen a device that can be put inside a dryer and adjusted to fit tight between the diameter of the drum and will allow you to put shoes on it. This solves the CLUMP - CLUMP - CLUMP issue.
If you don't hear the motor, its possible there is a blown fuse. have you checked your breaker panel too?
